Using my hands as the primary controller for Unreal Engine 5 and Ableton. I created this hand-tracking setup using MediaPipe in Python to track hand position and openness, sending the data live to Unreal Engine 5 to drive a Niagara particle system and simultaneously to Ableton, where it's mapped to an effect chain. #UnrealEngine5 #UE5 #NiagaraVFX #AbletonLive #StudioShare

Impressions from "Xenopunk", exhibited at NXT Museum Amsterdam during ADE 2022. As the Lead Developer, Art Director and Environment Artist I developed a vast procedural wasteland environment in Unity and created a VR experience featuring procedural assets authored in Houdini. The title "Xenopunk" is inspired by the notion of alien survival strategies in a post-ecological age, where creatures and humanoids can thrive in an inhospitable home environment. The humanoids, called disborgs, use bio-hacking and assistive technologies to overcome their bodily limitations, and turn waste into life-affirming paths. In this world, functionality and survival take priority over beauty, and the inhabitants' appearances are a byproduct of their strategies for survival. Over the last month, I've been diving deep into the PCG (Procedural Content Generation) framework in Unreal Engine 5.2 and released a free 2 hr tutorial series on it. I thought I'd share it with those of you who are interested in game development, environment design, or just learning something new. . We go through the basics like density filtering, spline sampling, mesh sampling and even how to exclude water bodies from your dynamic environments. Perfect for those who want to get a good grip on the core concepts. . Part 2 takes it a step further. We venture into landscape layer sampling and how to build a dynamic forest environment using PCG. From grasslands to slopes covered with foliage between rocks. It's filled with a bunch of practical examples and some neat debugging techniques. . Part 3, is all about crafting water bodies and foliage around them. We'll also walk through creating procedural pathways through the forest and work on a mesh sampling based asset—a dead tree overgrown with vines and moss. . Xenopunk - Over the last few months we worked intensely on this VR installation and immersive experience, exhibited at @nxtmuseum in Amsterdam. Based on Transmoderna's concept we created a surreal dreamscape filled with extraordinary creatures and beings. Viewers enter into a 8 minute immersive experience that takes them on a ride through this world and gradually introduces their inhabitants. With the help of Sam Aldridge @samaldridge for rigging and animation, the motion capture archive - capturing queer movements by @ior50.studio and the spatial Sound design by Anna Phaenarete Lioka. These clips are some of my favorite parts from the Dixon @ Fondation Beyeler stream - For this project we worked with a diverse team across multiple timezones and combined realtime CG with GAN interpretations from @soficrespo91 of original artworks by @wolfgang_tillmans , Paul Klee und Auguste Rodin together with (particle) VFX created in Unity. The stream starts in a virtual representation of @fondationbeyeler which is then gradually deconstructed and reinterpreted by @sabrina_ratte .
