@goodfoodexeter 🥬 The hungry gap 🥬
As the spring is getting closer and closer, we are also entering the dreaded 'Hungry Gap'. In the Northers hemisphere, Farmers call the March to May period the hungry gap, when winter and stored crops are getting scarcer and the first spring produce is not yet ready (like rhubarb, asparagus, broad beans and fresh peas that are the first to grace our plates in late April- May).
As we are focusing on trading local produce, we will have less veg before we have (a lot) more, and thankfully our wonderful farmers use polytunnels and will be able to continually produce salads, leaves and some much needed greens - and you can already see some fresh pea shoots from our friends at
@goodearthgrowers . Hold on tight, fresh spring veg are on their way!
We operate both a delivery and a click and collect system. Our online market opens weekly between Saturday 9am and Wednesday 9:30am.
