Evening’s at Brothers Exeter starts next week - Weds-Sat 4.30-9!
Neatly tucked in @guildhallshopanddine is @brothersexeter If you haven’t stopped by this spot already, then do it! This place uncategorically has the @exeter seal of approval!
The food at here is seriously good. It’s honest, done right, and using ingredients that are carefully sourced and well thought through. Brothers is (as per the name) family-owned and run - they serve food as they think you’d want it, as they’d want it, heck, as if you’re part of the family (sans the Marlon Brando tone!)
The brined chicken got a lot of good feedback, the lamb was beyond words, and the desserts - I could have kept going and suffered the consequences!
No fuss. No pretence. Just pure passion. Love it, fellas.
I hadn’t expected to be quite so entranced by the @alanmeasles exhibition at @rammuseum
I was aware of Grayson Perry’s art/craft (and whether it’s art or craft or both is a conversation we won’t have right now). I liked that he hand-coiled his pots (I’m very partial to a hand coiled pot). I had a vague idea about tapestries. I loved that he made art unpretentious and accessible during lockdown. Yet, when my friend Kate suggested we see the exhibition, I wasn’t exactly excited. Silly me.
I was blown out the water. I hadn’t realised the sheer scale of some of his work. I had no idea he also made etchings and could honestly have spent HOURS staring at them. The detail. The humour. The scrutiny. The breadth of knowledge (social, political, mythological, anthropological, religious, scientific, historical, philosophical, medical, architectural and on and on). The profanities (you need to look). It’s a mind that has explored itself, ferreting into every corner with bruising honestly, and then thrown that mind out into the world, the cosmos, time, before lassoing it back and displaying it. And that’s just the etchings…
If you get the chance, do go see it. Huge thanks, Kate, for taking me. Fantastic birthday present!
The Storytellers @exetercathedral is magical! This spectacular, immersive sound and light experience takes you on a journey through the history of storytelling, from ancient texts, world literature and poetry, right through to modern classics. The kids loved spotting the book-based references as they popped up! Great work @luxmuralis
There’s still a few days left to catch the event, which runs until this Saturday 10 Jan. For more info and tickets see @exetercathedral ‘s bio.
Definitely worth a visit - thanks for having us Exeter Cathedral!

🍁 A Taste of Autumn and a Toast to Winter ❄️ @the_ivy_collection@ivyexeter
Lastnight I had a sneaky sample of what’s in store for the A/W season @the_ivy_collection and it is tremendous👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
The new Autumn set menu is available from 15 October - 10 November and the Festive set menu from 12 November - 31 December. You can book via their website or app (there might be the odd perk and loyalty offering if you book via the app!)
The menu celebrates rich, warming spices and autumnal flavours, and it does so well! The linguine was a firm recommendation from our host and the desert options were almost too hard to pick from!
As a bonus pro-tip, the cocktails are an absolute must!
