A little non-toxic baby gear 101 👆
Most baby gear is not designed with daily, direct contact with a baby’s skin (and mouth) in mind.
When I’m choosing pieces we use every day (and for future babies to come) I look for as simple as possible:
- natural materials
- no unnecessary additives or chemicals
- no unnecessary electronics
This not only leads to more “non-toxic” gear, but also more high quality, longer-lasting gear. Cotton has a longer life than polyester. Non-electronics have less to break or go wrong than things with all the bells and whistles. Your great-grandpas handmade wooden cars last a lot longer than the Bluey figure toys. This applies to just about any baby gear item you can think of.
Consider that plastics are used because they are cheaper to make this way. There is no greater reason.
