Michael appreciation post… we took a cali roadtrip to try and write some story ideas… mostly ate, had in n out every day and set the world to rights a few times over. We were worried revisiting a town that we shared a lot of nostalgic memories in would feel a little empty, but it ended up being incredibly cathartic. I also love you incredibly @kylecoxfilm and @araizzza .
A year ago when I decided to finally stop being so aggressively scared of rejection and put myself out there into the world as some person who makes music, I really had no idea what to expect. I felt myself desperately clinging to a notion of control over the process but quickly found that a surrender to the vibe is far more satisfying. We are ever evolving beings and so must be our output. It’s alive, like a bottle of wine, every second, day or year is different. I do wine analogies now, because I am also insufferable. Anyways, it turns out I didn’t die and a I made some really great friends along the way. New song coming in a few weeks and then maybe I’ll finish an album. this session was truly unbelievable. the group was so talented and got along beautifully. @sambehr and @jnathanhopkins were such an interlocked team that the rest of us just jumped on the vibe train and it was so easy to make great sounding ideas happen.
@janolejonsson who came all the way from Hamburg (though not specifically for the session) held it down on the drums, @ethankellyrenner locked in on bass, victor (also German) smiled curiously during his wah wah funk lines, @jaredyeeee … man, JARED! That sax solo is so bloody gooooodddd.
we really had an amazing crew that day.
