Inheriting, assembling, and working with what’s already here— @untildef and @estudio_material brought a material language rooted in found elements and lived context to Inheriting San Francisco, as featured in @anand.g.sheth ’s interview with @dwellmagazine . In conversation with @williamhanley , the discussion traced how those approaches intersect with an architectural lens—where vacancy becomes a condition to contend with, not bypass. Through curation and design, the stage held that tension: between what’s left behind and what can still be activated. The installation and the panel moved together—linking material practice to broader questions of stewardship, reuse, and how the city is continuously shaped in real time. Thank you Nicole Nimri for your thoughtful words on the poignant topic, and @aaronwojack for photography. @salon_anand @artmarketproductions @thesidewalkflowers_sf @amandavidmardesign

AAPI art and culture took center stage at this year’s San Francisco Art Fair—foregrounding what @7x7bayarea described as “the many cultural contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to the Bay Area.” As an Indian-American curator and architect, that context felt personal—an expanded field of visibility, authorship, and presence that shaped how this work came together. In collaboration with @estudio_material , @untildef and @williamhanley of @dwellmagazine , and in dialogue with the fair’s broader cultural frame, the installation explored material, memory, and weight—held in a quiet tension against the density of voices around it. Thank you to @7x7bayarea and writer @pureewil for articulating the moment with clarity. @artmarketproductions @amandavidmardesign @thesidewalkflowers_sf @rootdivision

Absence is a piece about the application of human systems onto nature. Like the grid imposed on land, an aluminum frame interrupts the organic form of the boulder, dividing it into six segments. One is removed. The void it leaves is perfectly rational and defined by the frame, not the stone. It is this emptiness that reveals the artifact’s true nature. Our eye moves to fill what is gone. Aluminum and stone, one smooth, exact, and human-made the other raw, irregular, and alive. They stand in stark contrast, yet together arrive at an unexpected balance. Aluminum and Yellow Moss Rock

Stone pedestal 01 for ‘Nuevas Herencias’ an exhibition by @ofthreads_ This work responds to the question of what I wish to pass down as an inheritance. Shaped by a life lived between the industrial and the natural, a raw carbon steel assembly cradles a piece of Mexican onyx. The ancient stone, sourced in San Francisco, is held off-center, echoing the position of the human heart. Rather than proposing inheritance as a physical structure, the work suggests that what is most valuable to pass on is the inner, sacred home we carry within. Feria Territorio Feb 4-8 Espacio CDMX Thank you @almajimenezlopez_ and @serg88mondragon for curating this wonderful exhibition @mxterritoriocreativo

OF THREADS presents: Nuevas Herencias. Estudio Material explores inheritance through material, duality, and the architecture of care. Stone Pedestal 01 brings together carbon ste and raw Mexican onyx, framing contrast not as rupture, but as balance. The work reflects how what we inherit is not only what we build around us, but what we choose to protect within. Suspended like a heart held in place, the stone becomes a relic, elevated by structure, yet never constrained by it. Separation — a constant part of life that we often overlook in our daily departures. This work gives weight to that feeling by consciously splitting onyx that has been whole for millions of years. Held in tension by a brass rod, the two parts create conceptual enclosure to hold your keys—the objects of our transit. By encouraging pause to honor the moment, the work transforms the act of leaving from routine to ritual. The seres is part of ‘Objects for the Threshold’ Prompted and curated by @worksinprogress_sf for FOG MRKT @fogfair Fort Mason Center SF Jan 22-25
