after the excellent prepared presentations at the Asymmetry symposium I took the 63 bus down the road and just across the Thames to Christ Church in Southwark for some excellent improvisations at the Horse Improvised Music Club @horseimprovclub , beginning with a trio of Stuart Wilding @ghostmindstu , Pete Robson, and Sue Lynch @sue.lynch.378 , a duo of Vicky Sparrow and Jacob Saheb, and topped off with a quartet of Adrian Northover @agenorthover , Adam Bohman, Neil Metcalf, and Daniel Thompson @danielthompsonguitar .

moments from yesterday’s tremendously illuminating ‘Ecologies of Attention: Sensing at the Edge’, the 2026 Asymmetry International Symposium @asymmetryartorg , convened by Dr Wenny Teo @wennyytteo , Michèle Rio Yi Landolt @micheleruoyi , Dr Yayi Zheng @authentic_duck_fish , and Jessica Kwok @jessicaskwok . The day included presentations and screenings by Dr Kiki Tianqi Yu @kikitianqiyu , Chantel Foo @chanfyx , Yin Aiwen @aiwenyin , Serafina Min @seraf_inamin , Jiayi Chen, Yin-Ju Chen @yinju_chen , Stella Zhong @d__ent , Solveig Qu Suess @solveigsuess , and Dr Royce Ng (of Zheng Mahler @zheng__mahler ). There were so many interesting thoughts and inspirations being shared it was almost overwhelming!

moments from last night’s The Sound Bureau (15) organised by Phil Durrant @phil_durrant at The Hamlet in South London @thehamlet_london , with free jazz by Leeds-based Conrad Clenton @conrad_clenton on saxophones and Billy Goulding @bill_on_drums , Simon Rose @simon.rose.357 from Berlin on baritone saxophone, and the remarkably deft sonic confluences of Phil Durrant himself on electronics and Yoni Silver @yoni.silver on bass clarinet.

I was really inspired to see my PhD supervisor Dr Anson Mak @aah.sun presenting a selection of Hong Kong’s early queer video art, including their own and Ellen Pau’s @p0p0p0pe videos, followed by an introduction to the archive of Pre-Internet Era HK LGBTQ+ Printed Matter @hklgbtqarchive for which they are project consultant, at the Museum of the Home @museumofthehome in London this afternoon.
