Last Friday May 8th, @epfl_space_center organized EPFL Space Day an event presenting EPFL research, courses, associations, and startups in relation to space.
Our president Maximilian had the opportunity to present the association to the various attendees and guests.
Furthermore, we had a stand to show off some of our work in the exhibitors area.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to share our work with so many people from the industry.
Numerous ERT members were present during the event and it was an amazing learning opportunity to be able to listen to the various talks but also to be to interact with the different speakers and attendees.
Our former president Joachim was also present and it was a great opportunity to catch up and exchange with him along with other past members.
Having @epfl_space_center supporting us and hosting such and event is truly invaluable and we are excited to continue our tight collaboration.

Organised with the aim of bringing together the entire EPFL space community, the EPFL Space Day began this morning with a welcome address by President Anna Fontcuberta i Morral. The morning saw a succession of speakers at the microphone: Emmanuelle David, who emphasised the importance of collaboration; Daniel Neuenschwander, who spoke about the future of space in Europe, Switzerland and at EPFL; and the student teams, who presented their cutting-edge projects. Galactic Chloé is our talented host and will be with us again this afternoon!

The Asclepios VI Dress Rehearsal 🌒
Some pictures from our very successful analogue mission practice run and Mission Control centre (MCC) held at @epfl_space_center last weekend! 🚀
We completed science trainings, medical trainings, MCC role specific trainings, a 24 hour simulation with 6 MCC shifts, and even had time for team pictures! 🏞️

Join Prof. Gisela Detrell, Professor of Human Spaceflight Technology at Technical University of Munich, for this EPFL Space Center Seminar:

Prof. Detrell's research focuses on life support systems for deep space, especially using microalgae photobioreactors to sustain astronauts on long missions to the Moon or Mars. Could future crews grow their own food? Algae might be on the menu.
Prof. Detrell studied Aerospace Engineering at UPC and earned her PhD in Life Support Systems at Stuttgart and UPC. She led research at the Institute of Space Systems in Stuttgart before joining TUM in 2023.

Some members of @skaswitzerland and the EPFL Space Center / @space.innovation teams visited the CMi – Center of MicroNanoTechnology at @epflcampus on February 3.
We had a very interesting one-hour tour led by Cyrille Hibert, Process Engineering Team Leader, including a visit to the cleanrooms and an inside look at the machines and processing equipment supporting microtechnology users.
This visit highlighted how collaboration and knowledge-sharing between EPFL centers and labs are truly fruitful, fostering innovation across disciplines.

Today, we welcomed French highschool students to the EPFL campus to talk to them about space.
Emmanuelle David presented the activities of the EPFL Space Centre and the challenges associated with the space sector.
The group also had the opportunity to visit the plasma centre and the tokamak.
We were delighted to host this visit and wish these young students every success in their future careers!

🚀 Concurrent Engineering Course (ENG-411)
Design a complete space mission as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Part of the EPFL Minor in Space Technologies
• 2 ECTS, during the first 7 weeks of the semester
• 4h per week, Wednesdays at 1:00 PM
• Course starts on February 18, 2026
🎓 Recommended for Master’s students who have completed EE-584 and EE-585
📍 Classes take place in the CDF room, located at the EPFL Space Center headquarters
Students work in a concurrent engineering environment, choose a specialized domain (structures, propulsion, electrical power systems, systems engineering, and more), and collaboratively design a full space mission. Details about this year’s mission objectives will be revealed soon!
