🔥🧬 Fighting wildfires with synthetic biology With Pyronix, the @igem_epfl team re-imagined the next generation of firefighting: a hydrogel-based fire retardant assembled from components produced by microorganisms which could be deployed by an AI-equipped drone to slow down fires. The project won 2nd place (Undergraduate 1st Runner-Up) at the iGEM Competition 2025. 🏅 🎬 @lm.psn #epfl #epflcampus #syntheticbiology #science @epfl_lifesciences

A robotic hand crawling on its own? Thing better watch out. 🧟‍♂️ Developed by EPFL’s Learning Algorithms and Systems Laboratory and the Computational Robot Design and Fabrication Lab,, this hand surpasses the limits of human dexterity. Its dual-thumb, reversible palm can even detach from its robotic arm to reach and grasp multiple objects.
