Nordic Interface The Lumen Prize, in collaboration with @kunstsilo , is proud to announce the launch of: Nordic Interface, a new initiative supporting the development of an ambitious new commission by a Nordic artist through mentorship, production support, public programming, and a site-specific commission at Kunstsilo. Building on our long-standing partnership, the program provides selected Nordic artists with mentorship from an international network of experts, dedicated production support, and the opportunity to premiere a new work in Kunstsilo’s Silohall during The Lumen Prize Awards Ceremony weekend in November. For the inaugural edition, we’re thrilled to announce @entangledothers as the first artists selected for the program. Their practice explores the complex entanglements between artificial intelligence and biological systems, asking how technology shapes our understanding of the more-than-human world. ‘Self-Contained’ by Entangled Others 2025 Nature & Climate Award Winners Hear from @sofiacrespo and @feileacan_net (@entangledothers ) as they explain their 2025 award winning artwork. ‘Self-Contained’ is the mutation of digital images as DNA: crossbreeding, mutating, and splicing random compressed fragments, as a way of exploring encoding/decoding information as image-making. The final mutating artwork into synthesized DNA, stored in a physical capsule. 📣 Are you an artist working with technology? 『 𝑳𝑬 𝑴𝑩𝑨𝑳 𝑨̀ 𝑨𝑹𝑻 𝑮𝑬𝑵𝑬̀𝑽𝑬 』 Pour la 5ᵉ capsule de l’ ORBIT_E, le duo d’artistes 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 @entangledothers propose (𝒅𝒊)𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏, une œuvre performative en temps réel qui explore la radioactivité comme force de mutation. À travers la simulation virtuelle d’un jardin atomique, deux ensembles d’images — cultures agricoles historiques et plancton marin antarctique — sont mis en relation et transformés. Accessible via une interface web, ce jardin évolue en permanence, entre croissance, mutation et décomposition. Le projet s’appuie sur l’histoire méconnue des jardins atomiques développés après la Seconde Guerre mondiale pour étudier des applications dites « pacifiques » de l’énergie nucléaire. Il fait également écho à l’exposition chronique des organismes marins aux faibles doses de radiation, dont les effets écologiques à long terme demeurent incertains. Le projet est curaté par Marlene Wenger @_______marlene______ , commissaire à la HEK (Haus der Elektronischen Künste, Basel). 📅 (𝒅𝒊)𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏 est à découvrir du 28 janvier au 1er février à Art Genève @artgeneve , au stand du MBAL ! _____ For the fifth instalment of ORBIT_E, the artist duo 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 presents (𝒅𝒊)𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏, a real-time performance piece that explores radioactivity as a force of change. Through the virtual simulation of an atomic garden, two sets of images — historical agricultural crops and Antarctic marine plankton — are linked and transformed. Accessible via a web interface, this garden is constantly evolving, between growth, mutation and decomposition. The project draws on the little-known history of atomic gardens developed after the Second World War to study so-called ‘peaceful’ applications of nuclear energy. It also echoes the chronic exposure of marine organisms to low doses of radiation, the long-term ecological effects of which remain uncertain. Conosciamo meno del 25% dei fondali oceanici con mappature ad alta risoluzione, mentre la percentuale scende drasticamente, intorno al 5%, se consideriamo l'esplorazione diretta degli ecosistemi marini. Entangled Others lavora nello spazio di confine fra conosciuto e sconosciuto in cui appaiono, da sempre, le chimere: invenzioni umane che popolano il mistero. Mostruose, forse. Ma più rassicuranti dello spazio insondabile. Liquid Chimeras, dal 5 febbraio a MEET, è la prima mostra del duo in Europa. La ricerca usa l'intelligenza artificiale per rendere visibile ciò che rimane ai margini dell'osservazione umana: organismi microscopici, ecosistemi sottomarini, pattern biologici da cui dipende l'intero ecosistema planetario. Featuring five series of works that present a vision created at the crossroads of poetic imagination and scientific inquiry, interpreting the world through fragments and hypotheses.
