🤩 New member on board the Modelo62 team!
We are thrilled to welcome Christine Cornwell to our team as Kwartiermaker.
As Modelo continues to grow, we want to deepen our roots in the community. Christine will lead that charge — fostering social engagement and building meaningful bridges between our artistic vision and the society.
Christine Cornwell is Latin-American-British artist and facilitator with a diverse portfolio of socially engaged and collaborative projects. As both performer and organiser, listening for (unexpected) connections and spaces where co-creation can be nurtured is at the core of her practice. Christine founded Stichting Art that Listens in 2024, which supports socially engaged and community building projects such as Book of Premonitions, Sounding Here series, and SamenKlanken inclusive music research.
Some words by Christine: "I am thrilled to join a team of musicians, makers, and directors that are committed to supporting the vision of living composers and artists with an open heart. As an advocate for participation in music, it is a privilege to join an experienced team to facilitate reciprocal community connections and listen for how Modelo62 can both share and learn from our position as an international ensemble in The Netherlands."
Welcome, Christine, to Modelo62! 😊

New members on board the Modelo62 team!
We are very happy to welcome Jonathan Offereins as our new fundraising and distribution manager.
We would like to thank Jan Willem Troost for fulfilling this role over the past years, alongside his work as a cellist on stage. @janwillemtroost will now enjoy other musical adventures, both as a performer and a programmer.
Modelo62 continues to grow thanks to the structural support provided by Fonds Podiumkunsten NL and Gemeente Den Haag, and we have many wonderful projects planned for the coming year.
We are therefore delighted to have Jonathan join our team and we are confident that working together will be a major step forward in our development, both nationally and internationally.
Jonathan Offereins has worked as producer, curator and festival maker in different contexts, with a focus on international performing arts. For the last five years he worked for festivals in the north of the Netherlands a.o. Welcome to the Village and Explore the North.
In 2022 he founded PAFFF festival with a focus on international artists, over two editions the festival gave the stage to artists like Philippe Quesne, Lia Rodrigues and Miet Warlop.
Some words by Jonathan: “I am very thrilled to start working with a collective in a totally new discipline for me. Modelo62 is an artistically driven innovative collective of the highest musical quality and a warm working environment. Their independent mindset and artistic vision is a great match with how I envision working in arts. I am looking forward to support the company to become an indispensable force of artistic innovation within the dutch and international performing arts circuit.”

Deltas is an interdisciplinary music theatre performance by composer and performance maker Nahuel Cano in collaboration with Modelo62 and filmmaker Juan Fernández Gebauer.
@88888888.jfg
The work combines live music, film and storytelling to connect personal and ecological losses through the lens of grief while following the course of two rivers: the Paraná in Argentina and the Rhine, in the Netherlands. These rivers are among the most heavily engineered and degraded ecosystems in their regions. They have been reshaped by centuries of extraction, trade, and management, turning wetlands into profit.
Performers: Reinier van Houdt (piano), Vasilis Stefanopoulos (double bass), Ezequiel Menalled (electric guitar), Mart Nooijen (vocals), Nahuel Cano (electronics & vocals), Akane Takada (piano).
We can't wait to share this new piece with you all! 😊
Deltas is a co-production between Spring Performing Arts Festival, Gaudeamus and Modelo62. The research and development of this project was supported by Gemeente Utrecht, and Provincie Utrecht.

❤️❤️ OVEROVERMOON we are. For we engaged with Ensemble Modelo62 on the basis of commissioning a new work for the ensemble every other year or so. And this year we - together - took the slightly unusual route of not commissioning a new composition but two amazing works for the ensemble in quite a different guise.
Reinier van Houdt recorded Giuseppe Chiari’s Intervalli for release on LP by Alga Marghen. And yesterday marked the last day of the installation and performance work Yareta by Germaine Sijstermans.
Yareta is quite a special and dear project. It is also quite understated - a presence that doesn’t scream loudly in affirmative tones. It is more a work of noticing the slightest of movements or colours or textures. A room filling installation inviting you to think and listen (and hear) on your feet. To be with the moving air in the room and with the objects: aural and physical.
Yareta was also performed three times during the last three weeks, twice at sunset, at the closing event in the afternoon. And light plays a definite part in the work too, ever so slightly, yet also very deliberate. Just like in the concert version, the playing is open and responsive, yet also measured and planned. Yes, in inspirational and poetic ways connected to Cage and Sandback or Beuger and Irwin. And also not and quintessentially Germaine Sijstermans through and through.
It was a pleasure and an honour to work with Modelo62 on Yareta and Intervalli. To make these works possible, to bring them forth. And for us together to embark on further adventures in new music and sounds and beyond.

--- 🤩
Tom Swart is a musicologist, creative director and musician based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Trained at Utrecht University with a specialisation in twentieth-century classical music, he has spent his career connecting people, ideas and organisations in the cultural sector.
He was director of Intro in Situ in Maastricht from 2017 to 2023, and since 2023 has been creative director of TAC — a creative hub in Eindhoven with studios for over a hundred artists, exhibition spaces and a hospitality venue. In both roles he has worked to create conditions in which artists and makers can experiment, take risks and develop their practice.
Tom is also a musician and long-time member of Blaudzun, playing accordion and piano. He brings the same drive to the stage as to his work as an organiser: a genuine enthusiasm for new ideas, an extensive network across the Dutch cultural field, and a persistent belief that the most interesting things happen when you give makers the space to surprise you.

LIVE CONCERT + INSTALLATION
Saturday 2nd of MAY
YARETA by @germaine.sijstermans at @quartair
Yareta invites you into its sounds and space. As you move through the work, it unfolds around you through changing viewpoints, shifts in attention, and encounters with its resonances. The passing of time and sensory perception may take on a pace and scale outside of the habitual. In this way, the abstract work offers a starting point for a personal experience in which sensing what is around you and where it leads your inner world can mingle and coexist, for each in their own way.
