🎯 YARETA by Germaine Sijstermans LIVE CONCERT + INSTALLATION Fri 24 April | 20:30 (premiere) Sat 2 May | 20:30 Sun 10 May | 16:00 Location: @quartair Typical of Sijstermans’s installations are the simple materials that, through careful positioning, fill a space and coexist with it without concealing anything. Just as the installation forms an environment without a single focal point, the music is both spatially and structurally without a centre. The instruments sound from the four corners of the space. Together, the quartet is able to involve the specific acoustics of the room in such a way that the space itself can almost be regarded as a fifth musician. >> Tickets are available through the link in our bio. ☝ → Performers: Germaine Sijstermans (clarinet) Elliot Simpson (guitar) Santiago Lascurain (guitar) Guy Vandromme (Indian harmonium) Leslee Smucker (light performer) → Supported by Yareta is co-commissioned by Gerliene and Sven Karssenberg-Schlijper (@thelovewormscommission ) This project is further supported by @fondspodiumkunsten , Gemeente Den Haag, and @intro_in_situ 🎥 @flora_reznik_videography #experimentalmusic #contemporarymusic #installation #liveconcert #sound #music

✨Mariska de Groot – “BROM” 📍 Quartair Inspired by a vintage spinning top, BROM transforms a childhood toy into a hypnotic sound installation. Motorised, rotating instruments hang from the ceiling, each tuned differently to create shifting harmonies and rhythmic vibrations. Step inside a humming choir of spinning sound. 🌀 🗓️ 9 - 12 April Proximity Music: The Ongoing Hum from @instrumentinventors and @rewirefestival . It seeks to connect sound, architecture, and technology through intimate sensory experiences. Free entry! With thanks: @stimuleringsfonds @stroom_den_haag @gemeentedenhaag

🎬 Aftermovie – Common Grounds: Global Music Lab 📍 Quartair Contemporary Art Initiatives — The Hague 🎶 Part of Culture Unlimited Festival 2026 We look back at a beautiful evening of music, poetry, and artistic exchange during Common Grounds – Global Music Lab, presented in collaboration with Sela Foundation and the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam. Musicians from different cultural backgrounds came together in The Hague for a collaborative laboratory of improvisation and creation. Over several days they worked together, exploring new musical dialogues and artistic ideas. The evening culminated in a live performance where music, spoken word, and visual art met in one shared space. A special highlight of the night was the presence of Syrian poet Lukman Derky, founder of the legendary Damascus cultural salon “Bayt Al-Qasid (بيت القصيد)”, where poets and musicians once gathered to share poetry and music in more than thirty languages. For one evening in The Hague, the spirit of Bayt Al-Qasid returned — bringing poetry and music into a living conversation. Watch the aftermovie and relive this special moment from Culture Unlimited Festival 2026. 🔗 Event page /events/common-grounds-global-music-lab/ #CultureUnlimitedFestival #CUF2026 #GlobalMusicLab #CommonGrounds #LukmanDerky BaytAlQasid Quartair DenHaag LiveMusic Poetry CulturalDialogue

Volgende week/ Next weekend: During 'From Damascus to The Hague' we are organizing a three-day workshop with Syrian artists and participants with a Syrian background. Visual art, video art, music, and painting will come together in a collaborative creative process. Over these three days, the participants will collaborate on a single collective installation around the theme of just transition. The work will be informed by poetry, short films, and group discussions. These moments of exchange and reflection will inspire the installation’s artistic development. The workshop offers a space for encounters, imagination, and shared stories. Art will be used as a means to share experiences, ask questions, and reflect together on the future, memory, and justice. The collaborative installation will be presented to the public on March 8th. After the iftar, at 7:00 PM, we will open the exhibition with live music and performances. The result is a moment of togetherness, where art, culture, and dialogue converge. @rotterdamarabfilmfestival @cultureunlimitedfestival
