Beautiful pieces, Seasonal food, and a slow gorgeous Sunday in Sheffield. On Sunday 7 June, we’re hosting our very first Summer Festival in Sheffield — an Artisan Market and Printmakers’ Fair bringing together a brilliant line-up of independent makers, artists and print makers, alongside fresh bakes, colourful seasonal plates and drinks worth lingering over. We wanted it to feel like the sort of Sunday you don’t want to end. A slow wander between stalls, a cosy coffee in hand, discovering beautiful objects and meeting the people who made them. In this post, we’re sharing the stallholders joining us, a few favourite pieces, glimpses of the spaces and some good-to-knows for the day. Come hungry, take your time, bring someone you love. Entry £2 in advance / £3 on the door - Kids 12 and under go free! Workshops - Bookable online Corn Dolly Making and Linocut Pattern and Print Dog friendly Save this for later and send it to the person you’d spend the day with.

We’re hosting a beautiful Summer Festival in Sheffield on Sunday 7 June, artist applications close this Thursday, and would love Craft led designers and Printers to join us. We’re reimagining our makers market to coincide with the gorgeous two venue event down in Neepsend at @themowbray and @events_at_victoria , they’re bringing their incredible seasonal food, summer drinks and gorgeous community and we’re curating an Artisan Market and Print Fair, two spaces where we can niche down. I wanted to talk a little about the Print Fair half of the event, a new curation for us, we’ve featured so many incredible illustrators and printers since 2019 at our markets, and our visitors love it too, but I’ve always had way more printers apply than any other medium and been sad not to be able to really show the full spectrum of the process off, then this opportunity landed in my mail and it felt a perfect venue where I could dedicate it to print. With this in mind, I’m looking for a broad collection of printers, from Hand pressed wood blocks through to risograph, greetings cards to fine art originals. If your new to ELC our events are modern, design led, vibrant and so lovely, we have a really wonderful community here in Sheffield who love filling there homes with thoughtful craftsmanship. There’ll be space for browsers, and some people will have wall space too, just let me know in your stall app description any set up idea’s you have. Suggested price points up to £250. Print stalls 📷 @wilfotograf Venue 📷 @themowbray Apps also open for Autumn Winter Makers Markets in Sheffield - Workstation Sat 26 Sept/ Sat 14 Nov Newcastle - Baltic Sat 28 Nov Edinburgh - Fruitmarket Sat 5/ Sun 6 Dec Any questions let me know, the applications takes around 10 minutes. Hello, hope you’ve had lovely week. I’m feeling a little chatty and thought I’d share a bit more about the new summer festival that I’m hosting in collab with The Mowbray and Victoria in Sheffield on Sunday 7 June. Applications to table with us at either the artisan market or print fair are open for a little longer with all the info over on our website to apply. Alongside the images of Victoria I’ve shared some photo’s from the market we host in Edinburgh taken by @wilfotograf to give you a sense of the style of the curation , these are from the fruitmarket which has a really similar feel to the new venue’s and about the same size (if you’ve joined us there) This event was not on my 2026 bucket list, but you know when something so good appears, like the stars have aligned and you can’t quite believe it, I have always dreamt about hosting at the Mowbray, I’ve held a drawing workshop here with @bloomsheffield , seen a gorgeous @theingood talk and been to there exceptional festive events and when they reached out to me to host with them my heart skipped a beat, the space is so beautiful, so thoughtfully restored, so perfect for a market. Something that I’ve always wanted for endless is to have the capacity to have outdoor space, room to hang out, enjoy company, drink cocktails, eat gorgeous seasonal food all within the experience, summer is different and creating a destination like this where you can spend the day amongst art and friends feels unreal. In the curation i’d love to to feature thoughtfully handmade goods, small batch, originals and limited runs, like botanicals, ceramics, clothing, knitwear, jewellery, textiles, woodwork with an artisan and design feel, think @liberty_london / @toast and the @tateshops The print fair will combine, illustrators who create playful stationary, through to story book illustrators, live drawing, small press, huge originals, woodblock to riso. There is also space for workshops and would love anything that is craft centred, from collage to textiles, leaving with a new skill and feeling inspired.

I’m over the moon to announce that we’re going to be hosting a summer festival on Sunday 7th June. This will be a collaboration with the gorgeous @themowbray and @events_at_victoria , known for incredible gatherings, creating the warmest most inviting spaces, aesthetically everything I’ve dreamt of for a perfect market day, historical, charming and elevated. A destination location, with @victoriasclubhousesocial cafe serving up vibrant savoury and sweet treats, allpress coffee and a cocktail bar crafted with seasonal flavours. This is such a unique and exciting collaboration, and the opportunity to showcase across two spaces feels phenomenal, so we’re going to really lean in. The Mowbray will be host to our first ever Print Fair, think design led, hand printed, linocut, gorgeous huge limited editions and lots of other beautiful slow process printing. At Victoria we’ll be in the chapel and it’s golden glow with an Artisan Market, full of thoughtfully hand made goods, from botanicals through to textiles, with a focus on small batch and unique pieces made by the maker. [ EDIT] Applications to join are now closed, line up soon to be announced, I have responded to applicants by email. Char ☺️

🖼️ The March guide - art, events and exhibitions Hi, I’m trying something a little different for content, something I love to do is share nice and good things happening near(ish) to my hometown, Sheffield and the cities I host markets in, and have on and off dipped my toes into doing this but wanted to be a bit more intentional, and this weekend see’s so many incredible creative events that I wanted to shout about, more than i’ve featured here for sure, so please do add any in comments you’re joining or going to. The plan is to do a monthly hello this is happening at the beginning of every month. I host markets because I love the extraordinary and wonderful impact on both visitor and independent maker they can have, and so whilst I’m in between seasons of our own events I thought it would be cool to start making a proper thing of highlighting art, events and exhibitions I’ve saved. Please share your events in comments, that would be lovely. Save for future plans. Subscribe to our substack in bio if you’re into long form Char x
