Me oh my, Beyond Palatable is officially OUT 💥
Craig and I are spending IWD wandering around Edinburgh in the sunshine popping into bookshops and spotting my book (MY BOOK WHAT?!) on the shelves of actual bookshops 🤯
And imagine turning a corner in Edinburgh's oldest bookshop and seeing my very own mug face blown up on the wall!
I don't know if my brain will ever fully compute this moment. Wow!
I've been busy writing articles for some of the UK's most prestigious media outlets. Look when I tell you publishing a book is no joke, this is what I'm talking about.
But what an honour to get to write about such important topics for such widely read publications.
More coming in the next few days...
You cannot be acceptable and exceptional. The two together make for an impossibility.
The too much + not enough conundrum. It is a game we cannot win.
Yet women are taught to be relatable, likeable, nice, Palatable.
And when we dare to shine, there is often someone waiting to shove us back in our box.
What happens if we shine anyway?
What was so phenomenal about yesterday's Ignited Women Event with @laurabruntoncoaching was how much of the experience was a co-creation between speakers, supporters and of course, our fab hosts, to create, as @tamu.thomas calls it, as activation of full frontal brilliance and pazzazal.
Tamu and I had eyes on each other's talks to make sure we created something fully rounded and epic.
Laura and I got our brains together to make a surprise at the end of mine (flip through for a taster).
And that level of we shine brighter togetherness lights my Christmas tree something chronic.
We are SO much brighter together.
And what an absolute honour to stand in front a room of 250 remarkable women, showing off their brilliance, holding up mirrors to one another and saying LOOK AT WHO YOU ARE.
We need that.
I am silly excited to be joining @poornabell and @maryampasha at @fleetstquarter Festival of Words 'The Age of Wisdom and Foolishness' on Wednesday.
We're going deep and asking questions like, what happens when a woman decides she wants more than she’s been given?
And how can women dismantle the societal norms that can keep them confined, and live bigger, bolder lives?
From life lessons to ways to resist the pressures of conformity and tools to communicate what you want effectively, this is a panel gaurenteed to put some Va back into your Voom.
Oooosh this gets me every time. Perhaps it's matrescence, or going so full hog at the launch of Beyond Palatable while running a growing business and teaching others to use their voice with more impact and influence, but recently, I have felt more more like I have nothing to say.
I haven't wanted to be out here ra.
I've wanted to hide and hibernate and make a safe little nest. Remembering the animal of my body (thanks Mary Oliver).
But this book really does matter. The message matters to me more than ever.
How many of us sacrifice our truth every day to fit in?
How many of us silence our own needs to be acceptable to others?
Such a special time! @beyondpalatable found its way to 8-10 year olds in the confidence and courage workshop i ran with @fearless_girls_club at the weekend.
We did the shy shuffle, walked like a queen, discussed boundaries and super powers and created our confidence shields. Finishing up with a letter to their future selves.
Best day! Thanks so much for having me
By the time she's born, baby Lee will have been on stage 23 times in front of 1000s of people.
She'll have been to three countries and flown half way across the world.
She'll have sat in 15 circles with incredible women and listened to the wisdom they have to share.
She'll have been beside the flames on a beach, in the woods, gathered around a table with friends as laughter reverberates.
Babies begin developing hearing in utero around 16–18 weeks gestation, with the auditory system fully functional by roughly 24–27 weeks (right about now).
There's so much babies learn about the world they are entering into before they arrive.
Isnt that extremely cool?

Book Review: Beyond Palatable | @electricpeachstudios
This book is like a whirlwind that sweeps you up and changes how you think and feel. @electricpeachstudios draws on a variety of techniques, including somatic coaching, journaling prompts, case studies and poetry to really help you shift the dial on how you see yourself and your place in the world.
She also acknowledges her own privilege in writing this book and I appreciated her efforts to create an inclusive space between its pages.
The exercises at the end of each chapter really help the content go a little deeper and it’s worth taking your time as you go through it to help it land. The book itself is quite fast-paced, but if you give it the space to resonate it will help you recognise your power and stop shrinking yourself!
Read this if you’re a womxn who’s done with “leaning in” or blaming yourself for the patriarchal system we live in. And even if you’re not - you’ll definitely learn something from the smorgasbord of thought-provoking prompts on offer.

Blurb:
Too loud. Too emotional. Too ambitious. Too… powerful? What happens when you stop dimming your light and dare to shine?
Beyond Palatable is a manifesto for women who are done shrinking. For too long, we’ve been told to smooth our edges, soften our voices, and contort ourselves into versions of ‘good’ that leave us cut off from our true power. Sophie Lee calls time on bending to societal norms and exposes the lies that keep women small, compliant and exhausted.
Through somatic wisdom (a field that emphasises body awareness and mindful movement for wellbeing), cultural critique and practical tools, she shows readers how to unpick their stories, disrupt the systems that silence them, and remember who the f*ck they are.
Raw, unfiltered and unapologetically honest, Beyond Palatable is both a personal reckoning and a cultural intervention. It’s a book for every woman who has ever asked: Am I too much? Not enough? Too complicated to be loved as I am?
The truth is, you are more powerful than you’ve been led to believe.
