Protecting desert-adapted elephants in one of the harshest environments on Earth has just been recognised. Indigo Earth Foundation is pleased to share that EHRA Namibia, Elephant-Human Relations Aid, has received the Silver Award in the Regenerative Tourism category at World Travel Market Africa in Cape Town. This category recognises organisations that go beyond sustainability to restore and strengthen ecosystems and communities. This recognition reflects EHRA’s long-term work alongside communities to reduce human-elephant conflict and protect Namibia’s desert-dwelling elephants. To date, EHRA: • has built 220 water points • monitors over 60 free-roaming elephants • supports primary schools through community development programmes • has educated more than 2,000 people on living safely alongside elephants • conducts ongoing research and data collection on Namibia’s desert elephants If you would like to experience this work in the field, you can join a two-week volunteer programme. Photos: @WTMAfrica #EHRA #IndigoEarthFoundation #Namibia #HumanElephantConflict #Volunteering #WildlifeConservation #TravelWithPurpose #RegenerativeTourism

🐘🩶 What does our cooperation with @ehranamibia in Namibia look like? During Africa Camp, we work closely with EHRA (Elephant-Human Relations Aid) — a local organization that has been protecting desert elephants and supporting local communities in Namibia for many years. Our cooperation means that participants actively take part in real projects led by EHRA. This is not about watching from the sidelines — it’s about working together on activities that truly matter. 🐘 What do we do together with EHRA? • Build water points for elephants, helping them access water during dry seasons • Construct protective walls, which help local communities protect their crops from wild animals • Learn about wildlife conservation, human–elephant relations, and the daily challenges of living in this region • Support local initiatives that help reduce conflicts between people and wildlife Thanks to this partnership, Africa Camp participants can experience what real fieldwork looks like and see how practical actions directly support wildlife protection and local communities. It’s this cooperation with EHRA that makes our trip meaningful and impactful — not only for the participants, but also for the place we visit 🌍💛

Last week, Taiwin, one of our amazing Elephant Guards, received a Ranger Award!! 🎉🍀🏆 Taiwin has excelled through outstanding performance in the field, developed strong leadership skills, and expanded our impact through projects of his own initiative. He is one of those local champions who can truly transform conservation. He LOVES elephants. He LOVES his people. And he dreams of coexistence. It has been one of my greatest honours to lead him and his team through the ups and downs of our conservation journey. And having this incredible Elephant Guard Team as sparring partners for innovative ideas is one of my greatest joys. These men and women are the backbone of conservation — and its future too. That is why I am beyond happy that Taiwin was awarded the Grassroots Owen-Smith Conservation Award (GOSCAR) 2026. Congratulations, Taiwin Garoeb — so deserved! 👏🐘

Magnificent 7. Thanks to @ehranamibia for hosting, collabing and driving us through the desert to the Abraham Gariseb Primary School. From teachers to students, these first time glasses wearers look so sharp with their new clear vision.
