With the glasses donated from @onesight for our Oshakati four day outreach program, there 2.5 NVG were the perfect fitting frame for this school child to have for his first pair of spectacles . Soon he will be seeing the chalk board with ease and daily life all so much clearer. The team at the general hospital were fantastic. Over 600 school children arrived over the days for screening , testing and dispensing. Overall circa 140 complete eyewear dispensed .
We met Ellen on our outreach in January in northern Namibia. She came along and waited hours to be tested and fitted with glasses . Now seeing and looking great. Clear vision can change how a child learns, how an adult works, and how a community thrives.
We were grateful to welcome Gillian Caplan from Ethical Vision, who joined EHRA in Khorixas to provide eye tests and glasses to local communities in Damaraland.
Over three days at Abraham Gariseb Primary School, more than 130 children and several adults were screened. Many were fitted with prescription glasses, reading glasses or sunglasses, some for the very first time. In total, over 50 pairs of glasses were provided to the school community, and sunglasses were also gifted to EHRA field team members who spend long days in the sun.
Good conservation goes hand in hand with supporting the well-being of the people who coexist with elephants.
