Shimoda drawings w Matt
This has nothing to do with my exhibition, which is on on May 22nd at Walnuts Coffee in Koenji, but I think you should go to my exhibition on May 22nd at Walnuts Coffee in Koenji because it's gonna be good.

Tokyo! Come to my show! Friday May 22nd sees the launch of a new risograph print portfolio by yours truly as well as a merch collaboration with @walnutscoffee . Doors open at 6 - at 8 I will open my mouth (much to the dismay of many), noises will ensue and at 8:30 I will close it again (to thunderous applause on account of closing it) and a performance by the world's greatest caretaker @theoskarms will follow, playing a few choice picks from his debut EP TØRT.
Join us for an evening in the name of motion, color, texture, transcontinental connections, giant robots and natural wines - I mean come one those are all the good things!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what it looked like last year when I told my family that I'd gotten the three year arts grant from @statenskunstfond
My dad is an artist, my mom does textiles (being the author of many of my shirts and sweaters) and worked as a handicap nurse (now retired as of last week, congratulations Alice.). I grew up working class, all our vacations were by way of a car that sputtered and broke down constantly and they were always to Sweden... Now I live in Japan and am fast at work on an exhibition and I hang out at cafés, which is a thing I never thought I would be doing. I am literally living my childhood dream.
I think I am experiencing some sort of upwards social mobility, I am not sure - time will tell. But this is what it was like last year when I told them. To an artist family this must be the equivalent of seeing your son win the world cup or something I don't know. All I know is that my life is kind of incredible right now and it is all thanks to my upbringing in a creative and supportive household, as well as coming from a society where education is free and the arts are supported aplenty as well as some degree of unperturbed stubbornness on my part. I could go on but a robot just arrived with my food and I am very hungry after two long days of printing in the most expert company one could hope for.
Tooteloo and thank - you 🫵
P.S. nobody in this video knows I filmed them and yes my brother bears a passing resemblance to Aquaman 🧜♂️

To be in motion is a wonderful thing. Doesn't matter if it's up or down, all movement is lateral at the end of the day. Feeling yourself scraping against the walls of reality is a reminder that inside your scalp you're not alone, like brain cells or hydrogen atoms you're bouncing into people all the time, on the subway or in life, resistance is good, going against the grain can freshen you up or streamline your face. A spinning top moves very fast to stand still. Motion is tranquility.
Hadn't felt much like drawing lately. Flipped through Womb Rider the other day and thought "yeah, this is pretty sick... somebody should make some more of this."
Womb Rider available through @uncivilizedbooks and the beingernst webstore (link in bio)
