Here, tenderness isn’t just soft or gentle—it can be fierce, messy, erotic, stubborn, and full of contradiction. It can ache, overwhelm, soothe, and surprise. This is a space to be with your own community. A space for peer support, care, and connection—where you don’t have to explain yourself, and where different experiences can exist side by side. We work through movement, performance art, voice and conversation. You don’t need any experience with dance or performance. We listen to what is already present in the body—shaking, holding, resisting, reaching. What happens when we stay with that sensation a little longer? When we are witnessed in it? When we witness others? You don’t need any experience with dance or performance. There’s no right way to move, sound or be here—come as you are, with curiosity and openness. You can arrive quietly, awkwardly, curiously—everything belongs. The workshop is connected to the performance hellänä – tender, directed by Eevi Tolvanen, and grows from the Queer Generations project, which centers queer and trans lived histories, intergenerational connection, and care as something personal, political, and collective. tender, 30’ Eevi Tolvanen [FI] 16/05 | 20:00 tender challenges the stereotypical ideas of what tenderness is supposed to look like. Tenderness isn’t just soft and polite. It can also be fierce, messy, stubborn, erotic, and complicated. The work definitely grows out of queer love. In some ways, it probably speaks a language that a queer audiences will recognise immediately—something that lives within our bodies and our history. The process is collective and the performers enter this world of tenderness in their own way. Somehow, all these worlds coexist beautifully in the same space. A body tender with grief. A body tender from wild physicality. Tolvanen leads two community-building projects; Queer Dance Group-dance community and Queer Generations- project.

The piece invites the audience to consider how care can be personal, political, and collective at once. 💕Eevi Tolvanen & työryhmä: hellänä - tender💕 hellänä - tender on liikettä, ääntä ja punk-estetiikkaa yhdistävä tanssiteos, joka tutkii ikääntyvien queer- ja transihmisten kokemuksia huolenpidosta todellisuuden rajoja venyttäen. Eri sukupolvien eletyt historiat kosketuksesta, läheisyydestä ja ihmissuhteista kehollistuvat näyttämölle tanssin ja musiikin keinoin välittämisen eleinä ja intiimeinä arkisina tekoina. hellänä - tender tuo näkyväksi esiintyjiensä haaveilemia todellisuuksia ja erilaisia ihmissuhteita: platonisia, sisaruksellisia, romanttisiakin. Se esittää huolenpidon sekä utopistisina unelmina, läheisinä kohtaamisina että arjen haastavina hetkinä — väsyneenä, riidoissa, etääntymisenä, eroina ja uudelleen lähestymisenä. Teos kutsuu katsojan tarkastelemaan, kuinka huolenpito voi olla yhtä aikaa henkilökohtaista, poliittista ja kollektiivista. Teos on TTK:n monivuotisen Sateenkaarisukupolvet-yhteisötaidehankkeen (2023-2026) huipentuma, jossa sateenkaariseniorit esiintyvät ja osallistuvat teoksen tekemisen eri osa-alueisiin. Sateenkaarisukupolvet-hanke luo yhteisöä ja yhteenkuuluvuuden tunnetta queer- ja trans-senioreille taidetyöpajojen sekä taidelähtöisten kotikäyntien muodossa. The lived histories of different generations – knowledge of touch, closeness, and relationships – take bodily form on stage through dance and music as gestures of care and intimate everyday acts. hellänä - tender reveals the realities and different types of relationships dreamed of by its performers: platonic, sibling-like, even romantic. It presents care as utopian dreams, intimate encounters, and challenging moments in everyday life—tiredness, arguments, distancing, breakups, and reconnections.
