What better excuse than a wedding in TUSCANY to plan a two-day field visit to @moodfabrics and enter extreme @projectrunway mode. There are so many things to say about this dress:
✨ I am the last person to be in anything super fairy-like or sparkly (hello shoes!) but I saw this fabric straight chilling in a bucket and immediately knew it was the one. Subtle colors giving Tuscan countryside but crazy texture which was also guaranteed not to wrinkle/need steaming (was folded in a suitcase for >30 days and totally fine) 🔎
✨The color of the lining was absolutely critical because of the way the light interacts with the fabric so s/o Tyler for helping me nail the color analysis for this one. The slit in the front of the dress also helped legs pop out and light come in. Fabric was busy enough you couldn’t see through (nips got additional coverage but did not need them IMHO and were almost pierced on many occasions) 🎨
✨ Back in Addis, there were 3 versions of this dress s/o @will_paja and @nahh__homie for being my sounding boards. For final version, I pulled up to Bisrat on the DAY OF MY FLIGHT to remove a lot of excess fabric (requiring the thing to be cut in half) but it was the only move to be made ✂️
✨ Not sure if/when/where I’ll ever wear this again, so already on the move to up-cycle, open and drop the back cut lower, maybe remove more fabric from the bottom half to achieve a narrower A-line? ♻️

The power of nature. Humbled on Tuesday. Healed on Wednesday. The natural swimming hole and mini waterfall of my dreams.
Amidst the chaos, there’s still so much to be grateful for. The moments when my mind tries to convince me otherwise are the ones that scare me most. Because truly—what do I not have? What can I not create for myself?
It’s been a quiet season, but the the silence isn’t threatening. The work is slow, but miraculous if you let it be—watching what I’ve envisioned come to life. Not just appear, but deepen, layer, transform. The portfolio exists.
Stick with the plan, not your emotions. If I followed my emotions, there would be no Arba Minch. We would’ve left early. I would’ve kept distance where there’s now connection. Discipline carried me where feelings could not.
To Naomiye—thank you for your sisterhood and unmatched empathy.
To Mediye—your thoughtfulness transcends oceans. It felt like you were right there chasing waterfalls with me.
