I LOVE YOU AMAZA!
An architect, a professor, a graphic designer, a painter, a commmunity builder, a lover, a lover of black women, a friend, a radical, limitless woman who said there is nothing I can’t do and no separation in the landscapes I am building with my own two hands to create the universe I wish to dwell in….even if the world hasn’t caught up to the constellations I have so thoughtfully, tirelessly, stitched together.
Getting to know you over the hours we spent with your letters, blueprints, notes, and teachings…I really feel like I got to know myself better and furthermore know the path I am determined to continue walking on. It gets lonely sometimes, knowing the things that feel like life or death to you, might be disposable to others. Details that keep you up at night, might be disregarded as such. Stories that feel like history, might just vanish if you don’t document it yourself. I feel so honored to play such a small role in telling yours alongside my sisters Shantel, Sabla and Shabazz (and the gentlemen who lifted us Kai and Chris) and think so fondly of us starting this journey in 2020, sitting at the table, mask on, thinking about your gang as Azurest in their beach chairs….not giving a damn, in the breeze, with eachother, not a man in sight, safely, taking it easy.
What a dream to see your story in people’s hands, knowing your name, seeing your blueprints and the way your big big brain worked!
