Congratulations to the graduates of DEO’s High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) Green Futures LA Program 🌱🎓 On May 1, Cohort 3 celebrated 20 graduates in Lancaster after completing workforce training preparing opportunity youth and young adults for careers in the green economy. Led by Get Focused Stay Focused, participants earned OSHA-10 and SAE EVSE credentials while gaining career readiness training and wraparound support. Across 3 cohorts, the program served 56 participants through DEO’s HRTP initiative — helping create pathways to quality jobs and long-term economic mobility. Congratulations to the latest graduates of DEO’s High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) SoLa Culinary Arts Workforce Development Program 👩🏽‍🍳🎓 On May 6, Cohort 6 celebrated 12 graduates at the SoLa Campus in South Los Angeles, preparing Opportunity Youth ages 18–24 for careers in hospitality, culinary arts, and entrepreneurship. Through the 6-week program led by The SoLa Foundation, participants received hands-on training in culinary fundamentals, restaurant operations, customer service, entrepreneurship, and food safety — earning their Food Handlers Certificate upon completion. The program is serving 100 participants across 7 cohorts, helping create pathways into high-road hospitality careers across LA County. Congratulations to all of the graduates and partners supporting the next generation of culinary talent. New contracting opportunity now open for the LA County DEO’s Preparing Los Angeles for County Employment (PLACE) Program! DEO is seeking at least one qualified contractor to conduct outreach, enroll, and train participants as part of the PLACE Program — helping expand pathways into stable County careers for individuals facing barriers to employment. Recap! National Apprenticeship Week in LA County DEO celebrated National Apprenticeship Week by highlighting apprenticeships helping Angelenos access quality jobs and careers in hospitality. We joined California Labor Secretary Stewart Knox, Employment Development Department Director Nancy Farias, Unite Here Local 11 Co-President Susan Minato, and HTA Executive Director Adine Forman and team in honoring 76 new graduates across that week’s Pre-Apprenticeship Prep Cook, Line Cook Apprenticeship, and Barista/Latte Artist Apprenticeship Programs. DEO invests in HTA and these programs through our High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) Fund, ensuring LA County continues to uplift our hospitality workers and our food service and tourism industries alike. DEO has announced the third and final round of awards through the Small Business Resiliency Fund, providing an additional $270,000 in relief to 86 LA County small businesses impacted by immigration enforcement actions. This final round includes discretionary funding support from Second District Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell and Third District Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath to help expand relief for impacted small businesses across LA County. To date, the Small Business Resiliency Fund has delivered $5.4 million in direct relief to 1,327 small businesses countywide.
