EWDD, in partnership with the County of Los Angeles, are thrilled to launch the Sidewalk Vending Cart Program, which seeks to assist sidewalk vendors navigate and obtain the necessary resources to operate their business within the city.
Through this program, fully code-compliant food carts will be awarded at no cost to vendors. Cart awardees will need to obtain all required permits to begin operating their carts as fully permitted businesses.
Below are some of the eligibility requirements:
👉Applicants must acquire a sidewalk vending permit.
👉Applicants must be self-employed food vendors.
👉Businesses must have experienced financial loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
👉Applicants must have a food handler’s certification.

On May 12th EWDD leadership staff along with four BusinessSource (BSC) Centers attended Mayor Karen Bass’ Latino Business Procurement Event held at the LA Convention Center.
More than 200+ business owners and entrepreneurs gathered to learn about resources, partake in two panels, and one fireside chat led by the Mayor. The second panel titled “Winning Big: Lessons from Small Businesses Behind Major Events” was moderated by Daysi Hernandez, EWDD Chief Grants Administrator, and discussed how small businesses successfully acquired government contracts for the Super Bowl and other high-profile events.
BSC representatives were in attendance to discuss resources and to get businesses “contract ready” for all of the upcoming sporting events coming to the City of LA in the upcoming years.
