Man, this wasn’t the news I was expecting to hear today. Rest in peace my brother, Aesop. We didn’t talk that much the past few years but whenever we saw each other it was always love. Always cracking jokes, always welcoming, and super talented. Your spirit will be missed by your family, friends, and Legendary brothers but your music will live on forever. It’s @ghazi day! HUGE congrats on the deserved recognition given via @billboard cover and article.
I started with @empire in 2013 at a small office in Potrero Hill. Through the years I’ve been able to witness, firsthand, Ghazi’s unrelenting vision and energy. He’s navigated the entire team through uncharted territories with impeccable business acumen, integrity, and most of all humanity – a trait that we need more of in this world today.
He’s been a driving force in music, pressuring the rest of the industry to follow his lead and play catch up, refusing to move the company to Los Angeles, and being a major contributor to San Francisco’s revitalization. I couldn’t be prouder to call him a friend and mentor. It’s surreal to have had a passenger seat to it all throughout the years. Pretty incredible for a kid from Potrero Hill that had a dream. 👑

9. At this point we’d been in the water hours and he was deliriously exhausted and was doing downward dogs and pushing his head in the sand and then just laid down with his cheek full contact on the sand and was essentially making sand angels with his arms. We couldn’t get him to leave.
