Comparing creative workflows: local tools vs. online services Combining tools for media pipelines (image, video, audio, text, etc.) How can open-source AI tools be combined creatively and flexibly? The workshop is aimed at anyone curious about AI-based media production — whether you have prior experience or not. The goal is to build a foundational understanding of open-source AI and gain the skills to develop simple workflows independently. Together, we’ll explore the topic in an accessible and playful way. Niels Gercama is a new media artist and author between Amsterdam and Berlin. His work investigates fluidity and mutability as insurgent strategies for narrative building and artistic practice. He combines simulation methods, plastic materials and textual media to create a nuanced emotional and creative sensitivity. In his work, people and overheard conversations are translated into landscapes of skin, plastic and gelatinous materials. Themes of labor, sexuality and algorithmic control are investigated, mixed and destroy-destroyed. Das von Fabian Hesse und Mitra Wakil kuratierte Filmprogramm ist eine assoziative Auswahl filmischer Werke, die die lokale Rohstoffgewinnung und die Dynamiken des Extraktivismus thematisieren. Gleichzeitig beleuchtet es die komplexen Verflechtungen von Technisierung, Automatisierung und menschlicher Arbeit innerhalb sozioökonomischer Strukturen – Themen, die auch im Rahmen aktueller Debatten über De-Globalisierung im postkolonialen Kontext von Bedeutung sind. ,Dazwischensein‘ verweist hier auf ein Ineinandergreifen und Verwobensein von geologischen Formationen, Arbeitskontexten, Technologien und den Narrativen, die sich um diese Themen entfalten und Zukunftsvorstellungen prägen. Wir leiden unter dem Entzug von Reizung, die mit Berührung verbunden ist. Wie aber – so möchten wir im Umkehrschluss fragen – können wir uns von Bildern berühren lassen? Was sind die Mechanismen dieses immer wieder magischen Moments? Bilder werden nicht über den Tastsinn wahrgenommen – zumeist dürfen sie gar nicht angefasst werden –, sondern über den Sehsinn.
