𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘵 is pleased to announce our inaugural exhibition. Featuring 28 artists, this opening exhibition marks the launch of our artist-run project space currently at Centerfold, bringing together practices that move between abstraction, figuration, sculpture, and performance. Over the coming months, co-directors Ari Salka and Sachi Rettig will program a series of short, 10-day exhibitions on a monthly rhythm. Had a wonderful time showing my new body of work at @highdesertartfair with @wienholtprojects this weekend. Over the past year I painted more than 600 feet of dead stock linen for the set design of this installation and performance. Certainly one of the largest physical painting environments I’ve built to date. A huge thanks to @_tiberi for being a dream seamstress on this one! Very excited to finally see this project come to life for the world premiere March 19th & 20th at @skirball_la Here are a few photos by the talented @asatoiida 𝘋𝘪𝘴-𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 is a performance, communal ritual, and a family drama that asks what forces move through us when we enact an ancient spring rite, and what is left unspoken when we gather around the table. Staged à la Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party, the piece references the Passover seder, Greek mythology, and Pina Bausch’s Rite of Spring to examine the performance of ritual and the rigidity of roles and stories within families, communities, and institutions. Staged à la Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party, the piece references Jewish symbolism, Greek tragedy, and Pina Bausch’s Rite of Spring via large-scale puppetry by Freak Nature Puppets. The piece, jointly imagined by Mamie Green and writer Rebecca Schultz, is directed and choreographed by Green and written by Schultz. It features a collaborative team including puppets by Freak Nature Puppets, production design and paintings by artist Ari Salka, with an original score composed and performed by Patrick Shiroishi and Dylan Fujioka. One of my favorite paintings from this past year 𝘈𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘖𝘧 Acrylic, Raw Pigment, India Ink, and Oil on Canvas 48×36 in (2015–2025) This painting is now on loan with my brother @daniel.salka at his music studio in Hollywood. Grateful to see it spending time in a new creative space. I love loaning out works when it is aligned and letting them breathe, be seen, and live in new contexts.
