Started working on the transcription about 6 years, but backed off completing it as I didn’t have the chops to nail the finale altissimo roast… 6 years of shedding later I made it a festive project to get this down once and for all! @geraldalbright ‘s solo on this is just phenomenal: tone for days on end, huge inspiration. Brand new tune out from us at @cousinkula today! ’Hanging on Your Lips’ 💋There’s so much I love about how this one turned out: Joe’s driving groove , Jord’s solo, Ell’s crackin vocals, Will ‘Macy Gray’ Wells’ heavenly BVs, the minor/major lead line…. We’ve taken everything learned from writing songs together over the past few years, trimmed all the fat and poured it into 10 brand new bangers (and a huge barrel of B sides). There’s a whole feel good album incoming, and that feels good to say!

Manifesting for 2026

2025 was a super solid year! I love assembling the annual reel as its a great memory jogger for much cool stuff went down… V glad that you can now make 3 minute reels as there’s a fair bit to cram in this time. Loads and loads of recording, playing, mixing and producing. A serious amount of screen time. ‘Something in the Water’ a compilation album drops today, with a curation dedicated to and centred around the musical mecca that is the @thegallibristol Big up @dont4getthesun and @severn_songs for making it happen! I’ve contributed to two tunes on the album: 1) Be to Me - a co-write + prod with @stevietoddler . What was supposed to be a ‘remix’ of an used tune from her previous record evolved into a total deconstruction into something new, emerging, after some back and forth, as this shuffling banger 2) Eggs - the debut release from @dr.chonk.dr.chonk.dr.chonk . I recorded this at the start of the year, very glad to involved in this groovy premiere. Loads more to come from them next year :-) Enjoy the compilation

Recorded some live sessions for the one and only Lawi Anywar this summer that have been trickling out onto the youtubeys over the past months. Fond mems of making these - live sessions can go in all sorts of directions, but this one went off without a hitch, and even finished early... unheard of. There was only so much space in the @advancedretreat , so with the console up on the bar we realised I’d end up being in the whole movie, stood behind Lawi. Yetii’s new album, ‘Inner Worlds’ is now released! One of my favourite recording experiences of 2024 was tracking this, not least because of the box-fresh Steinway at our disposal but mostly because the tunes and playing was great and I got to just sit there for a while and soak it all up. A lot of time was spent in advance, and during the recording thinking about how we wanted the piano to sound. The compositions borrow from the Scandi-ECM lineage of jazz records but we opted to indulge in a plumper piano tone than some of those records, to really relish in the space in Alex’s compositions. This is shown off to full effect (I hope!) in the title track Rolling. There’s nowhere to hide when recording straight-ahead piano trios, but I have to say I’m very pleased with how this turned out :-) Yetii are touring for the record for the next few months, strong recommend to go and see these guys live @__yetii_ @alex_veitch_ - piano, composition Ashley John Long - Bass @alexgoodyeardrums - Drums Me - Recording, Mix Production @trupeakaudio - Mastering

Tamasene - Live at Winford Hall Here’s some clips from multi-song live vid I recorded for @tamasene_ and some behind the scenes. I rather enjoy the challenge of working on live videos - each one has its own novel set of audio challenges to overcome, both on the day and in the mix, but ultimately the only thing that actually matters is capturing a great performance! That said, I’m pretty pleased with how this one turned out from my end too :-)� Great videography as ever by Jack Hayter, its best enjoyed on Youtube in its proper widescreen format.
