Deems Experiment continue their February residency this Thursday. Three reworks back-to-back-to-back - It’s an ambitious undertaking, befitting Deems himself. What a challenge: intricately arranging music with bandmates/guests. New sets weekly. Rewarding too. He tells me it’s helped him fall in love with music again... Rediscover, listen… and further expand his musical ability. Sometimes the many other demands of life get in the way. Deems works as a Research Associate at the Living System Institute in Exeter. Looking into the physics of early embryo development. “I’m using maths and physics to understand early embryo development, hoping to replace some forms of animal testing with computer simulations.” The Afrobeat-Allstars night was a vibrant deep dive, partly inspired by his personal story (and sibling Lauretta, who suggested some of the set list). Feb 12th: Live and Direct: UK Garage UK Garage like you’ve never heard it before with special guests @battmankss (vocals), and @g.miln3s (drums). Deems Experiment is a Bristol based project led by keyboardist Aondoyima (Deems) Ioratim-Uba. Their style blends elements of nu-jazz, rock, classical music, and electronic music, and draws from the wide range of influences of guitarist Tristan Cole (Locomos), bassist Marcus Gee (Pysochoacousic Goat, Mammoth Toe), and drummer/producer Stan Glendinning (ELGAN). It’s been wonderful seeing this hugely talented collective evolve. ‘Redshift’ will be the band’s second release, forthcoming exclusively on the ‘Something In The Water’ compilation dropping 28/11/25 on @seven_songs . The album will be available to purchase on the night. With support from @bristolbeerfactory
