@Hollywoodbowl 2025 was such an amazing experience on so many levels. As a kid, I was watching the film over and over on a home-recorded VHS tape, working up a sweat dancing and belting out all the lyrics along with Judas, Jesus, Mary, etc, at the top of my lungs.
During the JCS
@jesuschristsuperstar national tour that ran from 92 - 96 with Ted Neeley
@tedneeleyofficial and Carl Anderson, my mom was working in the costume department at our local theater. Family lore tells that she actually washed Jesus' holy drawers!
Owing to her theater roots, I got to sit in the pit and watch the percussionist.
For my 15-year-old brain, it was mind-blowing. I was hooked by the music. Electricity and creative energy hung in the air like intoxicating smoke. I was amazed by the MAGIC 🪄 🪄 that a team of dedicated artists could achieve. Little did I know it was just practice for later on....
So this felt completely full circle. To work with
@steoremus again, a consummate musician who is just the greatest interpreter and the ultimate MD, along with the cast of the Best of the Best (LITERALLY OMG
@cynthiaerivo ), ALL filling the space with their JOY in and LOVE for the work (thank you for your light early on
@ourladyJ ), was beyond a dream come true, and a pleasure to have in my mix. (Which incidentally was perfect! Thank you - brilliant BOWL crew!)
And lastly, to do it on "TIMPANI AND" percussion, well, it doesn't get much better for the Little Drummer fan-girl inside of me that will never die. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all for your gifts, and also to
