Also presenting as part of Junctions is multidisciplinary artist Aoife Dunne. Aoife's practice explores the relationship between physical and virtual space. Working across immersive installation, sculpture, moving image, sound, performance, costume, and new media, she constructs ambitious and site-responsive environments that blur distinctions between material and immaterial worlds. Informed by digital culture, fantasy, surrealism, and theatricality, her work pushes the boundaries between technology, art, and embodiment. 👉 Creative Lab Day: Junctions 📆 Sat 23 May, 9:30am-5pm 📍@dancelimerick 🎟️ Tickets €25 from lightmoves.ie. It’s not everyday that a collaboration between a second year undergrad student and lecturer becomes a published book… but that’s what happened when a summer research project by MMPT student Adam Krall took wings and became “Ten Etudes for Modular Synthesiser” published by Contemponet (ISBN-13: 978-8899212278) and coauthored with Dr. Giuseppe Torre. — Adam Krall is an innovative musician and producer. His work ranges from impactful collaborations with Czech underground rappers to crafting compelling scores for fashion shows. A pivotal period at the University of Limerick ignited his passion for electronic music and synthesizers, leading him to explore and push the boundaries of experimental production and composition. Giuseppe Torre is a digital artist who creates engaging experiences using generative systems, live coding, and minimal sound. His work invites audiences to explore ideas of perception, embodiment, and the role of technology. His performances and installations have gained international attention. Beyond his artistic practice, Dr. Torre is an active contributor to academic discourse, publishing widely on digital aesthetics, open-source culture, and critical theory. As an educator at the University of Limerick, he mentors new artists and advocates for Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) in the arts. #electronicmusic #modularsynth #musiceducation @universityoflimerick

We were delighted to welcome Irish composer Elis Czerniak @elisczerniak to DMARC during March and April as part of the CMC/DMARC Sonic Arts Residency. Elis worked extensively in our Electronic Music Studio, recording with a range of sound materials including the Buchla 200e, Eurorack systems and acoustic instruments. Elis Czerniak is a composer, performer and teacher based in Dublin, Ireland. He seeks to create an aesthetic that unifies composer, performer and listener through the use of extended notation, graphics and other synergetic practices. His music is that of a collaborative world created through the exploration of sound’s unstable qualities, employing improvisation and graphic notation in order to bring about enveloping sound-worlds that call for intimate listening practices between all agents of the musical community. The thoughts and ideas of composers such as Eliane Radigue, Luigi Nono and Horatiu Radulescu play a big role in his work as a composer, with the use of unusual instrumental timbres, both organic and electronic, making up the diverse palette in which he draws his material from. Elis holds a degree in music from Trinity College Dublin, a masters in music from the Royal College of Music in London and has obtained his PhD under Evangelia Rigaki being awarded the Home Hewson scholarship. He is a former lecturer at Trinity College in areas relating to composition, electroacoustics and ethnomusicology. He has also had his pieces played throughout Ireland, UK and Europe by a variety of performers including RCM Symphony Orchestra, Kirkos Ensemble, Crash Ensemble, Tonnta Vocal Ensemble and RTÉ Con Tempo Quartet. @cmcireland @csisul @universityoflimerick @sci_engul #contemporarymusic #electronicmusıc #elianeradigue #luiginono #horatioradulescu
