In November of 25’ @mixcloud interviewed me about my career and my ideologies on being an open format DJ. To clarify for those new to the term it’s new-ish, what it really means is DJs who play multiple genres in their DJ sets. It’s a very labor intense lane as a DJ and not everyone can do it. Thank you to everyone who connected with this interview the response from DJs and music lovers around the world was a joy I can’t describe and a sign that it was time to finally start these projects I’ve been conceptualizing. Nothing brings me more joy than educating through my experience(s) wins and losses. Real talk, niche and broad spectrum. There’s not enough conversations leading by example with positive navigation & problem solving. This interview was the foundation for ā€œLet It Breatheā€, a conversation series about DJing, but really for creatives in general. Speaking from the heart & from my 24 yrs (& counting) as a DJ, and prior career managing DJ’s. I’ve become somewhat of a therapist for aspiring & career DJs but the lessons and take aways are for anyone on the journey of finding their creative center of balance. There are many styles of DJs and there’s room and respect for everyone who is in it for the right reasons and put in the work. Open format sets as explained in this interview, are an artform and one that takes trial and error and endless dedication. The foundation is the music, being a music lover of various vibes/genres is who I am. The fame of genre specific & producer driven DJ residencies is what most people assume being a DJ is, but it’s not. It’s just 1 element of many in the DJ world and a lot of it is illusion. It’s also not on every DJs vision board. Love to all who are authentically in the DJ world. Music is medicine, (actual) DJs are healers. Thank you @yemitheabiade for the rad interview this might be my favorite one I’ve ever done. Follow @mixcloud if you’re a music lover, fan of DJs, radio shows, & podcasts. And of course I’d love for you to follow/hang out with me. Llnks are in Le bio! Support DJs & producers, spread love, share music, & dance! #dj #interview #musiclover

With over two decades as a seasoned DJ and music industry professional plying her trade across Los Angeles and Las Vegas, @dj88 has built a solid reputation as an open-format DJ. Moving between hip-hop, electro, r&b, soul, indie, classic rock and other sounds, and having opened for the likes of Quincy Jones, Bono, Chaka Khan, Hiatus Kaiyote, De La Soul, Earth Wind & Fire and many more of the world’s biggest music stars, she has long understood what it means to hold a room and take it somewhere unexpected šŸŖ„ We asked her to share some of the open-format mixes that have moved her over the years - link in bio šŸ”—

Shows have been the new club for me for quite a while now…clubs don’t hit anymore, parties do but they have to be thoughtfully curated and the DJs need to be all the way on point,…which doesn’t happen often. So far 2026 did not disappoint in the live shows dept. Lord Finesse got people outside with his LA party BRONX TALE & we rolled deep! @sadatxbrandnubian @diamondditc @niceandsmoothofficial @teacha_krsone all performed @regenttheaterla solid night of adulting with bestest friends @_genevievegreen @adrianejamison & @harperville - Gorillaz show @hollywoodpalladium was nuts it’s all about the shows! Oh, @channeltres DJ set @sohohouse DTLA was a workout!! Last Saturdays @nobar_noho is always a fun night especially when folks are in from out of town! @sadatxbrandnubian & @diamondditc came and stayed till the lights came on I love playing for artist friends and not playing they’re shit lol! But it was fun to play a bunch of gems they never get to hear out from new wave to jazz to disco. Had to slip in a late night zoomie video Rocky’s late night park walks are my favorite… @harperville & friends @nobar_noho for Last Saturdays in January was a packed night I love when friends surprise me and pop in on this night! My lil bro @mightyrel guest DJ’d with me! I have no interest in clubs anymore been there did it and did it well, but dive bars never go out of style! People come out to hear music, they’re down for anything. @nobar_noho is where you can find me in LA doing DJ sets every last Saturday unless I’m traveling. 5 Star dive bar always authentic energetically and the taco truck is slammmmin’ If you’re in LA on a Last Saturdays of the month come thru it’s a mood. #friends #liveshow #dj #bar #dogmom

My love and friendship with these guys runs deep. If you are a @wearedelasoul fan you definitely want to have this mixtape on repeat. It’s a retrospective I produced, arranged, creative directed & DJ’d as an homage to the guys and a Thank You to DAVE šŸ•Šļø Track List is slide 2 | Deep cuts, rare remixes, edits, & flips including my remix of ā€œBuddyā€ which was so fun to include amongst all of this great work from DJ/producers from @supadavewest @jperiodbk @jakeuno @diamondditc @xplargepro @djpremier @djspinna @jonkwest @pomobeats @weareoliver @sirtallblackguy @flipout @picksterone & the incomparable and HILARIOUS @djprincepaul who sent me the BEST DROP EVER for the mixtape šŸ¤£šŸ¦cover art by @danstuckie A week after I dropped this mixtape the guys were in town for @gorillaz sold out two nights @hollywoodpalladium My babygirl is a HUGE Gorillaz fan and had the time of her life that night! Such a great group of people. Super flex material for school the next day for sure 😜 Great night, great memories spanning decades with them. I miss you Dave along with the rest of the world. This mixtape was my way of healing and honoring your bananas talent, you are such a quiet storm. BARS and cadence royalty! You, @wearedelasoul made hip hop inclusive, you gave those of us who never felt like they fit in a seat at the table. I’m forever grateful for that. It’s changed my life. 30+ years after hearing them for the first time My personal and professional life is emerged in hip hop, music, DJing, producing mixtapes, curating music, throwing parties and if I’m not DJIng you can STILL (and forever) find me on the dancefloor next to a speaker with all the sass doe that ass! Bgirl por vida. #dj #mixtape #momlife

EVENT DJ/OPENING TALENT I’ve always swam in both bodies of water, nightlife & bars and high end events. It’s made me the DJ I am today. My age and my passion for music, all vibes, has been my biggest asset. Events are my favorite, each one allows me to create a different experience and curate a different sound. 2026 kicked off with one of my favorite events and nights of the year, ā€œThe Power Of Loveā€ at The @mgmgrand Arena in my second city of Las Vegas. It’s the biggest philanthropic event of the year and people show up and show oit! I’ve been the resident DJ/opening talent for this event for 14 years. I’ve opened up for everyone from Celine Dion and @brunomars to Quincy Jones and @chakakhan to Tony Bennett to @steviewonderlegacy the list is crazy I’d have to say, @michaelmcdonaldofficial was one of my favorite nights ever! I am a music lover to the core so it’s always exciting to find out who I’m opening for each year. This year was @thekennyloggins which was mega nostalgic I grew up listening to him in my Mothera house she loved him. my favorite part is finding out who I’m opening for and building my set around that that artist/vibe. This year I got to lean into soul, classic rock, rnb, & disco right in my wheelhouse! DJs, events & dive bars will be your most productive and challenging training grounds. They are essential in building character and patience. They allow you to work w/different teams of talent & workmen/women and show you how to not just team play, but to have respect for everyone’s role in bringing a night like this together. I curate a 3 hr playlist for the dinner & auction portion of the event & I do 2 live DJ sets opening the show from red carpet till curtains go up and then a closing set right after main talent. I go everywhere musically, as always I play A LOT of edits/flips/remixes for this one and always slide in songs no one expects to hear at an event of this magnitude. Edits featured here by @djhomicide_ @djsteve1der & yours truly! Watching people escape through what I’m playing is what it’s all about, that journey! Last slide is from an on air interview with the lovely @jillianlopez the day before the event!
