This Saturday Feb 28 I’m joining @hiphopfilmfest@thebrothersed & @ninacreese for a deep dive into how AI can actually serve storytelling in real, practical ways.
We’re breaking down a story prompt live and building it from the ground up using multiple tools including direction and animation tools and music creation. We dive directly into this the process of execution, as well as explore ethical concerns. Who owns the writing? The visuals? The sound? Where does authorship begin and end? Where does culture fit into this framework?
We focus on real life application. This is an event not to be missed being taught by leading creatives in the field.

The current climate feels crucial for me as a filmmaker and as an artist. Now more than ever, who controls the narrative matters. Taking ownership of our stories is not just about visibility. It’s about agency. It’s about influence. It’s about telling the truth with authenticity.
Stories shape how people think. They shape culture. They shape what feels possible. When we tell our own stories with honesty and depth, we stop being defined by others. We define ourselves. That responsibility feels more important now than ever.

Bobby Yan is an Emmy-winning filmmaker known for bold, visually elevated storytelling grounded in emotional authenticity. With a background spanning over a hundred music videos and commercials, his films have aired on Lifetime, BET+, TV One, Tubi, and Netflix, and he has directed an acclaimed international drama series.
A Tulane graduate with a Master’s from NYU in Visual Effects, Yan is currently attached to multiple high-profile film and television projects, continuing to build a body of work defined by craft, collaboration, and human connection.
