OUT NOW - @6amsunset Graphical User Interface Tracklist 01 What Would My Future Self Do 02 Stranger Call 03 Think Naught 04 Should I Go First 100 downloads include a free A6 postcard Limited run of 25 A3 prints Building on the pathbreaking Ping Volume One, Different Circles presents Graphical User Interface, the debut EP from Italian artist 6amsunset. 6amsunset first came to the label’s attention through the Mumdance Discord, where he posted a steady run of skeletal min–max productions that quickly became reference points within the community. Graphical User Interface unfolds across four alien excursions, twisting and refracting the label’s trademark ping framework in startling new directions. The EP includes 6amsunset’s reduction of @chevelmusic Different Circles ping classic “The Call”, closing a decade-long causality loop on the UK - Italy sound system axis. The Ping Report 2025 is built almost entirely from community-sourced productions & selections drawn from the MD Discord and beyond. Essentially Instead of building a track around a kick drum, you begin with a single high-frequency sound — the ping — and let the track unfold around it. Because the ping sits high in the frequency spectrum, it leaves space for bass to move underneath while still holding the rhythm in place. Like weightless, ping isn’t a genre. It’s a framework, a way of thinking about structure and space. We think of the ping as a temporal anchor. It’s a simple idea, which is part of its strength. It’s opened up so many new directions for us. Many early Different Circles tracks had ping sounds running through them. When I played them on the radio, the Discord chat would often react with a meme of Momotaros, a Japanese devil character. Over time, I started playing more pingy tracks just to trigger the meme. In 2023, I broadcast a moodboard show called The Ping Report. From there, producers began sending in purpose-made ping tracks. That eventually led to the Ping Volume One compilation. This 2025 report is the ping sound evolved, shaped through two years of incubation and quiet dialogue between a community of artists and listeners. It feels like a continuation of whatever was in the air during the Boxed era If you know my discography, this mix sits alongside Shared Meanings, Twists and Turns, Pinch B2B Mumdance and FabricLive 80. Thank you to everyone involved, especially the Discord crew. It’s been a joy to watch this grow so organically from a single meme. 😂 Link in Bio Design as always by @allpurpose.studio Shout out to the meme master @spartakmixtapes

Different Circles returns. Today we release two new tracks from Mumdance & Logos, taken from Ping Volume One — out 27 August. Available on double vinyl, digital, and with a limited edition Pingers tote bag. The first 200 digital orders include a limited edition A5 artwork print. Pre-order: Full tracklist on slide 02. In 2013, Different Circles launched with Weightless Volume One, a compilation that helped define a new minimalist aesthetic in electronic music. Twelve years later and after a six-year pause, the label returns with its tenth release: Ping Volume One. Like weightless, ping isn’t a genre. It’s an approach to anchoring and propelling sound without relying on the steady pulse of a kick drum. Instead, a single percussive hit — the ping — holds the centre. Dry and high in the mix, or echoing distantly through space, it becomes a temporal anchor. Around it, the rest of the track can undulate, bend, float or collapse. The term first appeared on Mumdance’s radio show, where playing “the pingy ones” from the Different Circles back catalogue became a running joke. In the Discord community, it evolved into a shared language, with memes, lore, and a mascot known as the Ping Devil. In 2023, Mumdance aired The “Ping Report” a radio show that gathered everything into a coherent moodboard. It included original tracks made by Discord members for the show and set the foundations. From there, more producers began making ping intentionally, and over time, Ping Volume One took shape. As the idea came into focus, Logos and Mumdance noticed that much of the Different Circles back catalogue, if not explicitly weightless, could now be understood through the lens of ping. It was a sound they had been drawn to long before they had a language to describe it. Ping Volume One is a document of shared instinct. A collection of tracks connected by feel rather than formula, shaped by years of dialogue between a community of artists and listeners who were drawn to the same sounds & ideas before they had a name.
