This song just hits different these days. What an honor to be able to share it with the @bryantparknyc audience Friday night. Thank you @nycopera for having me. āØ
This is āLosing my Mindā from Follies by the incomparable Stephen Sondheim.
Did you catch The Sound Betweenās New York City performance of the full-length choral work, āVigiliaā by Einojuhani Rautavaara?
This Vespers piece, inspired by the composerās visit to a monastery, was performed by candlelight as part of the Music on Madison series.

A little update from the weekend! Returned to the Lyndon Woodside Oratorio Competition and took home the Janet Plucknett Prize for third place. Grateful to everyone at the @oratoriosociety who hosts this event with such grace and good energy. And always a privilege to make music with @amirfaridpiano āŗļø. I loved sharing the day with my friend @erinnsensenig , who sang one of my favorite pieces (Golijovās Lua Descolorida) and sounded like a million bucks. Final slide: Max supervising my prep in the mirror.

Longtime collaborators and GRAMMY-nominated duo Devony Smith and Danny Zelibor join us for Longing II on Sunday, May 10 at 5PM.
The pair return to BASS for the first time since their recent album, featuring a BASS commission by Eve Beglarian, was nominated for a 2026 GRAMMY, and bring their shared commitment to new music to two distinct and vividly expressive new works by Huang Ruo and Missy Mazzoli!
Praised by The New York Times for her āsensualā and āstrongā voice, mezzo-soprano Devony Smith moves easily between opera and contemporary music, with a particular focus on new work. She has premiered pieces by composers including Jennifer Higdon, Jake Landau, Eve Beglarian, and Luna Pearl Woolf, and recently originated a leading role in Woolfās Number Our Days at the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Her recent work with the Albany Symphony alone has included nine premieres in a single season.
Pianist Danny Zelibor, recognized for his sensitive and colorful playing, is a sought-after collaborator in both standard and contemporary repertoire. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall, performed with artists including Harolyn Blackwell and Joshua Roman, and recorded numerous world premieres of new vocal works. A frequent performer with Brooklyn Art Song Society, he is a dedicated advocate for art song and for the role of music as a bridge between communities.

Still floating after a wild, unforgettable weekend that ended on the @grammys red carpet. Extra special this year because my uncle was also nominated. A true family affair.
Danny and I curated this album with our whole selves. The nomination is an incredible honor, but the real joy has been hearing how deeply people connect with a project thatās artistically uncompromising and so close to our hearts. Thrilled that three of our eight composers were with us to celebrate: @wliverman15@jakelandaucomposer@_klavia
And I felt like a million bucks thanks to styling magic from @secondhemd_styling and gorgeous glam by @madeupbykellyb š¤
