PINNED POST:
I’m Bo, a full-time freelance graphic designer based in Nottingham.
Creative Director @sidedoor.studio (creative communications powered by learning design)
I work across music, arts, and community spaces, including events, exhibitions, charities, and independent projects. Currently open to freelance work, especially supporting artists, musicians, and cultural spaces.
My recent focus is motion graphics, creating visuals for gigs, Spotify loops, and digital content, alongside a long-running hands-on approach combining collage, drawn type, and print. I’ve developed a strong practice in risograph and screenprint through a residency at Carousel.
I run bi-monthly artist events @sidedoorsocialnotts at People’s School Nottingham, creating a casual space for exhibition, performance, and connection.

MY NEW MOTION GRAPHICS SHOWREEL!
If you think you've seen some of this before, that's because you have but watch through the whole minute of the showreel to see loads of peaks of new projects and lots of motion graphics reinterpretations of old projects!
I’ve been really focusing on motion graphics lately, learning new software, trying things out, and actually just having so much fun with it. It’s made me feel a little bit more employable and a lot more proud of what I can do. This is just some of the work I’ve made over the past year, but at the rate things are going I’ll probably have a whole new reel in six months because I’m learning something new every day.
I’m opening up more time for freelance projects now. I’m happy to take on branding work, campaigns, logos, posters for events, and I’d especially love to do motion graphics for events and gigs. If you run events and have had any recent grants come through, I’d love to help level up your visuals and build something that really fits your atmosphere.
Outside of that, I’ve been working at Sidedoor as Creative Lead, which has been such a great opportunity. I’ve been able to do a mix of motion, branding, and pushing ideas with way more creative freedom than I ever expected this early on.
Really excited to keep growing this part of my practice. If you want to make something together, feel free to message me.

Since March 2, 2025, the Israeli government has blocked all aid, including fuel, from entering Gaza—another blatant violation of international humanitarian law. Combined with Trump’s threats of “Trump Gaza” and the ongoing genocide, it’s clearer than ever that ethnic cleansing is Netanyahu’s goal.
The UK government continues to back both Netanyahu and Trump in their genocide of the Palestinian people. As the UK public, we must keep speaking out.

We worked together on a tight deadline to create something that felt bold, type based and really represented electronic music but still had the texture and feel of Falmouth and it's folky coastal feel.
It was also really fun to design for risograph again.
Thanks for this great project.
If anyone has any events posters/ branding/ motion graphics or album art etc DM me I'm currently open to doing some exciting work

Thank you all for such an incredible first Sidedoor Social.
March 11th went beyond anything we expected: so many amazing artists, great performances, and over 150 people coming through the space. It was so special seeing The People’s Hall full of creatives, conversation, and people really engaging with the work.
This is exactly what we hoped it could be.
So of course… we’re doing it again.
Next event: May 13th
Submissions are now open.
If you submitted last time and weren’t selected, you’re already in the running, but if anything has changed, feel free to resubmit.
Submit via the link in our bio
Deadline: end of day April 30th
Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen.
See you at the next one.

When the Sneinton community group calls for anti fascist design Bo Brindle responds.
We noticed some gross bigots putting up horrible stickers around our lovely Sneinton, so I made some designs for bold stickers to cover theirs and show people how Sneinton really feels!
Inspired by the instructional design around me in hospital (where I was stuck making this) (final slide).
Thanks to the Sneinton community group for getting these out there so quickly and @_cae_fro_ for printing them with such speed.
All creative disciplines are welcome at Sidedoor Social, from illustrator to baker, poet to florist!
We have extended the submission deadline for work until March the 4th!

Since September I’ve been working at Side Door Studio, helping define the brand from strategy and visuals to building the website from nothing.
This is my first ever time building a full site. I don’t really enjoy it, but it’s really good to learn. Thanks to my brother @brindle_joe , who taught me a lot.
The main thing I’ve loved is working on something I really care about. When you’ve helped build the brand alongside @simonbeales and @alexmoranfilm (absolute legends), you know it inside out and care about every detail. The week-after-week collaboration has been the best part.
Now I’m going to get into some of the reasons behind the branding, for all the branding nerds out there.
We knew it had to feel:
-personal
-bespoke
-and completely disrupt standard L&D branding
-No cookie-cutter visuals.
-No generic sans-serif logos.
-No corporate illustrations.
That’s why we went hand-drawn:
-handwritten type
-jittery motion
-expressive, imperfect visuals
You can see it across:
-the website
-the showreel
-the T-shirts
-and that motion graphic where the logo warps into the hand-drawn lettering
It feels human, made by humans.
We also wanted it to feel bold and unafraid, so we leaned into:
-messy illustrations with exaggerated perspectives
-layered textures
-collage elements
Nothing too polished. It’s about getting things wrong and learning from it.
We also redesigned the logo mark and went back to the core idea, the side door.
Not the obvious route.
A more studied, less obvious way of doing things.
The new icon is:
-super simple
-therefore super flexible and easy to remix
You can open it, zoom through it, put things inside it. It’s not fixed to one look. That flexibility was really for the brand.
If you haven’t already, go check out the website and let me know what you think!
