It Doesn’t Have to Always Make Sense by Amoako Boafo is now on view at Museo di Palazzo Grimani on the occasion of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
Conceived by DeRoche Projects, the scenography frames Boafo’s work, weaving creation, context, and community into a single, interconnected experience. Painting, still and moving image, and architecture unfold together, guiding visitors through a carefully choreographed spatial narrative.

A film currently on view at Amoako Boafo’s first solo exhibition in Italy, It Doesn’t Have to Always Make Sense, which runs May 6 – November 22, 2026 at the Museo di Palazzo Grimani, Venice, presented by Gagosian.
Entitled Process, the film moves between behind-the-scenes moments and the act of making, offering glimpses into the process and revealing intimate insights into Boafo’s practice, and the collaboration with DeRoche Projects, and Worlasi (@worlasigh )

The Backyard Tennis Club has been named one of the year’s most beautiful buildings.
“This tennis facility rooted in West African traditions has set its sights on changing the country’s sporting culture,” writes Monocle. “From the outside, the compound is striking. Its walls feature triangular cut-outs that allow light to dance across the surface.”

Ghanian artist Amoako Boafo and architect Glenn DeRoche approach exhibition-making as an ongoing dialogue, where painting and architecture evolve together.
For ‘I Bring Home with Me’ at Roberts Projects, DeRoche reconstructs Boafo’s Accra studio within the gallery, dissolving the boundary between where art is made and where it is encountered—turning the exhibition into an inhabitable portrait of a community.

A coastal study in texture and restraint. The Surf House is an existing structure that has been reimagined rather than replaced. Through careful interventions and locally attuned strategies, the project prioritized environmental responsibility while creating a shared spaces that supports surf culture and everyday gathering.
