Director watch - Prince Suasie 🧩 “PROCESS” “Shooting this film entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro Max came with its own creative limitations and unexpected challenges on set. During pre-production prep, my DP and I agreed to lean more towards restrained, static compositions allowing scenes to breathe and unfold naturally rather than relying on fast-paced movement. In many ways, that approach became essential to the spirit of the film and its connection to the art installation itself. What truly made this project possible, though, was the dedication of the entire team; from production to post. The commitment from every producers, editor, sound designer, colorist, vfx team and creative collaborator shaped this film into what it is today. Shot entirely on iPhone by director Prince Suasie, the film *Process* follows Amoako Boafo between his studio, the tennis court, and the Museo di Palazzo Grimani, where the Ghanaian painter presents his first solo exhibition in Italy as part of the 61st Venice Biennale. The film moves between intimate behind-the-scenes moments and the act of making , offering a closer look into Boafo’s practice and creative rhythm. Led by exhibition designer Glenn Deroché, the installation embraces an “economy of means” repurposing structural materials from a previous exhibition to create a dialogue between Boafo’s work and the historic palace rather than placing them in contrast. Featuring an original score by Worlasi (@worlasigh ), Process is a meditation on art, space, collaboration, and process itself. Sometimes the biggest blessings in this journey come through people. Last year, I had the opportunity/ invite to travel to Lagos and shadow my Oga /big bro @adeola.fadola 🐐on a commercial he directed for Google. Seeing how @adeola.fadola navigated the set with such composure and precision even within the pace of a day’s shoot with multiple takes and constant movement was the highlight for me. A powerful reminder that great directing isn’t just about having a vision, but about the clarity of that vision and the ability to carry your team through the process of bringing it fully to life. Grateful to my brother @danielattoh_ 🫶🏾❤️for pulling me into this experience and opening that door. At the top of the year, I had plans for how I thought 2025 should unfold. Some worked out, others fell through, but through it all, I’m reminded of God’s Perfect Timing, and how He’s always been in control. And maybe you’ve felt the same way too, especially as we step into the last quarter of the year, as the reality of not achieving your goals starts to sink in. “Jubilate” is a reminder to us all that even in those moments of emptiness, giving thanks is necessary, to celebrate, and to trust that God has it all figured out, even when it seems like we don’t. Without a doubt, 2024 has been such an impactful year for me; full of spaces of growth, resilience, challenging seasons to push me out of my comfort zone and fields of strength in pushing myself beyond my limits. Ending the year 🥁✨ on a high note with ‘Earth from Vume’ , a fashion film I had the honor of directing for @subwaestudios Rammed Earth 2024 collection🧱. This project is incredibly special to me for many reasons: it marks my first time shooting in my home region and collaborating with my brothers❤️ @daakpestudios a leading architectural media production company 🏛️ that produced this film🎬🎥. My goal as the director was to blend fashion and architecture in a way that felt natural and cohesive. From ideation to execution, the synergy between @subwaestudios vision and @daakpestudios ethos was seamless. ‘Earth from Vume’ represents a harmony between architecture and fashion, blending the beauty of rammed earth structures with the essence of the collection. This film was an opportunity to push creative boundaries, experimenting with sound design, composition, and thoughtful framing all with intention and heart. I’m grateful for the amazing team and collaborators who made this a reality. Here’s to celebrating craft, community, and bold storytelling whilst challenging traditional narratives of fashion filmmaking and presenting a fresh perspective.
