Some past pics of many a lovely trip to beautiful Oban ahead of my gig @theviewoban on Friday night with Graham Spiers playing Michael Parkinson to my David Niven. Now staying at the stunning @no17thepromenade (enjoyed a fab overnight at its sister boutique B&B @no26bythesea a couple of years ago) and I look forward to dining at its @hiddensteakhouse restaurant and @porcini_no17 (the best Italian in Oban, apparently). Oh yeah, and I'll also be sampling the delights of the wonderful @coastrestaurantoban - one of the rare places I reviewed TWICE for the newspapers. So, only one dilemma: after all that, how will I manage to squeeze in a fish supper? (Could perhaps pop into @therealfoodcafe - a gem on the A82 at Tyndrum - on the road up...) Heads up - and a question - for the good people of Oban: my show with Spiersy @theviewoban on Friday March 6 is just a month away and I'm thrilled to be staying overnight at the gorgeous @alltavona (swipe for pics). Three years ago, I had a lovely stay at its sister hotel in Oban - @no26bythesea - and it was truly stunning (swipe for more pics). Now, here's the question: where's the ONE place you recommend for a long lunch/dinner in Oban? In the past - mainly thanks to so many trips to one of my favourite places in Scotland when I was writing reviews for the @scottishdailyrecord and the @scottishsuninsta - I've really enjoyed the food @eeusk @cuanmoroban @coastrestaurantoban @theobanfishchipshop and @waterfrontfishouse to name but a few. It’s hard to ignore the first anniversary of a major holiday and this one was so special for us as we reunited with one Son, met up with special family peeps @fabadab and met long lost family for the first time. A minute and a half isn’t long enough to squeeze in the beauty of our 1300km trip to the the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides and back but here goes. Absolutely stunning landscapes, lots of hospitality and oral history from my Cuz’s @derek_pluto and Roddy Murray, we miss you guys.
