So … since a teenager, I’ve been quite tall. I would take up two seats on the bus, hit my head on the underground and struggle to buy clothes. ‘Extra long’ never seemed to be in stock! We’re delighted to welcome back the wonderful @derek_aidoo , who is directing our Level 6 Advanced Musical Theatre Performance Module 🎭 Derek is a dynamic and accomplished performer whose career spans major West End productions, national tours, and classical theatre. His recent credits include MJ The Musical and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, alongside standout performances in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Nativity! The Musical, Rent (Tom Collins), The Magic of Motown (as Lionel Richie), The Christmas Crooners (as Nat King Cole), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (as Demetrius). We’re thrilled to have Derek back at RHCAST sharing his incredible experience, creative insight, and passion for storytelling with our graduating students. It promises to be an inspiring project! 🌟 🎭 Meet @oliverlidert – our Level 5 Performance Project Director Originally from the U.S. with Jamaican and Jewish heritage, Oliver brings a global outlook shaped by a remarkable career across Philadelphia, Melbourne, Milan, Broadway and the West End. A graduate of the University of the Arts (Philadelphia) and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, he’s a multifaceted creative — actor, director, writer, dramaturg and voice artist. His stage credits include The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, Porgy & Bess and Dear Evan Hansen, alongside directing work premiering at The Other Palace, Southwark Playhouse and internationally in Singapore. He’s also part of the Young Vic Directors Program and has trained in intimacy direction at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
