A month ago, we had the pleasure of being in Malmö at @indiscourse to record 3D portraits of inspiring female leaders who create significant impact every day through their work and decisions. 💪 We used @depthkit to capture Christina Åstrand and Henriette Laursen in full 3D volumetric video. 🎥 Depthkit combines RGB video and depth data in a single recording, and the technology is based on a circular camera setup that captures movement, texture, and depth in 360 degrees. This makes it possible to recreate people as realistic 3D figures that move naturally and can be experienced from any angle in AR🤩. It’s an honour to be part of a program dedicated to advancing critical perspectives on the moving image while championing innovative voices in contemporary cinema and multimedia art. Further, ‘Loverboy’ is under consideration for the esteemed ‘Moving Image Art Prize’—one of Europe’s leading awards recognising artistic excellence in new cinema and multimedia. LF contributor Kate Ladenheim was featured in Futures Stages in a fabulous embodied technology event headed by Katherine Fisher! This looks like an amazing evening of immersive and interactive performance, digital art, and installations in NYU’s Collaborative Arts Department and people to keep watching! “Future Stages expands concepts of shared experiences by exploring what it means to be in conversation with emergent technologies...[and] researches the growing relationships between our bodies and the digital world.” The event was Saturday, August 17th, and we look forward to the next one and are following them for any great documentation that emerges.
