@_aedis delivers a seamless and expertly crafted transition from dub techno into a more psychedelic and trippy style of techno for DSS 126.
David Iriarte is the name behind Aedis, hailing from Barcelona and currently based in Amsterdam. This project finds the artist diving deeper into a sound he’s been shaping over time, refining its identity through subtle evolution and focus. The project leans into an off-centre dance sound — deep, dub-tin-ged, and anchored in groove and movement. It builds on techno’s pulse and minimal structure, keeping the rhythm upfront while letting small shifts and textures do the talking.
The producer and mind behind his other shared alias,
@_iroaka_ Iriarte is no stranger to the exploration of ambiance & rhythmic play: the duo released a trilogy of records on John Talabot’s label
@hiverndiscs between 2020 & 2023, and a closing trilogy is coming on 2025.
His productions go from the first solo EP called ‘Zevar’, out on Hylke’s
@spectral.bounce (One Eye Witness), ‘Saense’ released on Kia’s label,
@animalialabel some self-released works on Bandcamp, among others.
His releases traverses the deeper territories of tech house before conjuring up mystic 2-step and delving into rolling techno. The sense of spaciousness throughout the EP’s is vivid, perpetually unfolding modulated delays; cavernous reverb; weighty, grounding sub frequencies. This expanse is punctuated by fragmentary voices, psychedelic refrains, intricate break deployment and thudding bass tones.
