It’s been incredible seeing my custom design transformed from a simple @procreate line drawing into these hand embroidered, hand crafted jackets. I mean, look at that metallic thread 😍
What makes these garments even more beautiful is the human touch behind each piece. Every item is handcrafted in Rajasthan, India, by a family run business who uses traditional Indian methods. Every purchase supports the @lilandthepickle family and in turn, the small family business in India. A beautiful symbiotic relationship with beautiful items to boot.

Happy National Illustration Day ✏️
Illustration isn’t just my ‘job’, it’s been my dream career as long as I can remember, and I genuinely don’t mind how corny that sounds 🌽
I remember taking a career path test when I was 15 and it suggested I should be an illustrator - at the time I wanted to do something ‘sensible’ so I pursued studying to be a linguist, putting aside the artist fantasy.
But when an opportunity to take an Art Foundation came along I saw it as my litmus test for if I truly wanted to indulge my artistic dream or keep going down the path I thought was best (or that I thought would make everyone proud/happy).
I’m really glad I didn’t turn my back on my art career dream ✨
I’m so grateful every day that I wake up and get to draw for a living, it’s wild. I’ve met so many incredible clients along the way, some who are wonderful friends now, and have been inspired by so many incredibly talented illustrators, some of who are also wonderful friends now too!
So thank you for following along on this 15 year journey I’ve been on (or is it longer? I only count the years since leaving @norwichuniarts 🙃) and I hope to keep going and keep drawing and keep bringing people’s ideas into the world.
And thank you @qbcentre for founding this national day for an art form that I think rarely is celebrated as much as it should be

🪼✨Oceans Glowing✨🪼
Prompt 4 of the @ourplanetweek drawing challenge celebrates the Mauve Stinger jellyfish. This beautiful creature creates its own bioluminescence and glows brightly at night when disturbed. Although a rare sight to see here in the UK they can sometimes be spotted off the Welsh and Cornish coast.

☁️ Wind Blowing ☁️
For today’s prompt I wanted to go 1,345 meters high to the tallest mountain in the British isles, Ben Nevis, where I’m sure the wind blows pretty strong!
Nesting up in the crags are these beautiful Golden Eagles with their huge wingspan of 2.3 meters! They are starting to make a comeback after many years of persecution, and there are now thought to be 300 nesting pairs in Scotland 🦅

✨ Rivers Flowing ✨
Prompt 2 for @ourplanetweek is all about celebrating the incredible rivers flowing through the UK. For this, I took inspiration of the river Usk that starts in the Brecon Beacons and flows into the Severn Estuary; a special river as it’s known as a Site of Specific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC) due to its rich biodiversity.

Celebrating Earth Day with the first prompt from @ourplanetweek - Forests Growing 🌳
I wanted to use this prompt as an opportunity to illustrate a hidden wonder in our country that you would never knew existed - Our temperate rainforests. And whilst our rainforests are hundreds, if not thousands, years old some are actually still growing!
Our temperate rainforests are a rare and beautiful treasure that are home to the most species of lichen, ferns, mushrooms and wildlife due to their unique climates, and as such must be protected at all costs.
Whilst this isn’t a specific rainforest site in the Uk, I drew heavily on the mystical Wistman Woods (the place that potentially inspired The Hounds of the Baskervilles!) and included wildlife that can be found in rainforests over the country, including the Chequered Skipper Butterfly that can only be found within a 40km radius of Fort William! 🤯
