🏆 DDS+ won the open call for Université de Namur
The UNamur project combines a sports hall and 85 student housing units in a compact and legible composition. The superposition of functions, made possible by the timber-frame construction of the student housing, frees up generous permeable and planted outdoor spaces.
Here, voids matter as much as built volumes.
Enhancing natural daylight across all spaces — student housing as well as shared facilities — has guided the design.

Congratulations to Bovenbouw Architectuur, Caruso St John Architects, DDS+ and MA2 for the Royale Belge project which won the Brussels Architecture Prize Honourable Mention: Contemporary Heritage.
“The architects are breathing new life into the monofunctional office building after years of neglect. The conversion pairs programmatic diversity with architectural humility and will include offices, coworking, and a hotel, health club and restaurant.
A new circular atrium brings daylight deep into the building and is the beating heart of the transformation. Strategic wall openings connect the monumental entrance hall to adjacent offices and the restaurant. The modifications are anchored to the building’s original character thanks to the careful reuse of materials.”

Our end-of-year team gathering exceptionally took place this year at the OXY construction site.
It included a guided visit led by the architects in charge of the project, followed by a drink together on the 16th floor, with a stunning night-time view over Brussels.
A good way to take a step back on the year behind us and visualise what’s next.
By quite literally taking some height.
More than a visit, it was a chance to celebrate what we do best: shaping buildings and cities with lasting value for users and communities.

WINNING COMPETITION 🏆
DDS+ is proud to be part of the winning team for the LionCity I open call.
Launched by citydev, SLRB and Delhaize, Lioncity I aims to redevelop the parcel of Delhaize’s original warehouses in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Our design, developed in collaboration with ATAMA and ORG Permanent Modernity, was selected for its sensitive urban integration and dialogue with the site’s industrial heritage. Organized around 3 main axes of circulation, it will feature layers of functions implemented according to interconnected use schemes. In addition to fostering social mixity, a gradation of urban scales will enable SME workshops, retail and housing functions to cohabitate around generous outdoor spaces and to complement the neighborhood with an interactive mixed-use site.

A copper-toned glow, vertical elegance, and modular rhythm: the new facade of OXY is now almost fully installed, and it’s already reshaping the atmosphere of Boulevard Anspach!
Ensuring both thermal comfort and spatial quality, the facade’s modules were carefully calibrated to respond to the building’s varying programs, from housing, to hotel, to offices, and their respective needs for privacy, light, and transparency.
Each copper frame stretches across two levels, giving the building a slender appearance, while bathing Place de la Monnaie in a warm, inviting light. This new outer shell transforms a once-monolithic block into a lively, multifunctional landmark firmly rooted in the heart of Brussels’ city center.
