Eerste spadesteek Diamond Gate! Groundbreaking for Diamond Gate! +++ Logistieke Campus, Genk +++ Op 11 mei werd de eerste steen gelegd van Diamond Gate, het nieuwe poortgebouw aan de Logistieke Campus Limburg. Met dit project krijgt de transformatie van de voormalige Ford-site verder vorm. Diamond Gate wordt een zeven verdiepingen hoog baken dat de toegang tot de campus markeert en de ambitie van de plek zichtbaar maakt: een vernieuwd economisch landschap waar logistiek, maakindustrie, technologie en innovatie samenkomen. De architectuur speelt in op de schaal en geschiedenis van de site. De krachtige verticale volumetrie geeft het gebouw een duidelijke aanwezigheid, terwijl de gevel in gebrand hout, geïnspireerd op de Japanse shou sugi ban-techniek, een duurzame en tactiele verwijzing vormt naar het industriële verleden. Niet als eindpunt, maar als startpunt van een toekomstgericht hoofdstuk voor Genk en Limburg. Trots om hieraan bij te dragen, met dank aan onze opdrachtgever en partners voor het vertrouwen. +++ On May 11, the first stone was laid for Diamond Gate, the new gateway building at the Logistics Campus Limburg. With this project, the transformation of the former Ford site continues to take shape. Diamond Gate will become a seven-storey landmark, marking the entrance to the campus and expressing the ambition of the site: a renewed economic landscape where logistics, manufacturing, technology and innovation come together. The architecture responds to the scale and history of the site. Its strong vertical volume gives the building a clear presence, while the charred timber façade, inspired by the Japanese shou sugi ban technique, creates a sustainable and tactile reference to its industrial past. Not as an endpoint, but as the starting point of a future-oriented chapter for Genk and Limburg. Eerste steenlegging Twist Tower op 40m hoogte! +++ Laying the first stone of the Twist Tower at a height of 40 meters! +++ Kempisch Dok, Antwerp +++ Op 7 mei werd de bouw van de Twist Tower officieel gestart met een eerste steenlegging op hoogte. Aan het Kempisch Dok in Antwerpen realiseert zich de komende jaren een woontoren van 23 verdiepingen met 92 appartementen. Met haar kenmerkende twist vormt het gebouw een nieuw verticaal accent in de skyline, met zichten op het water, Park Spoor Noord en de stad. Het project koppelt architectuur aan woonkwaliteit, met aandacht voor oriëntatie, beleving en context. Op de 11de verdieping wordt een zwembad geïntegreerd op 40 meter hoogte, als collectieve ruimte binnen het gebouw. Met deze start wordt een volgende stap gezet in de verdere ontwikkeling van de Antwerpse stad. +++ On May 7, construction of the Twist Tower officially started with a first stone laying at height. Located at the marina of the Kempisch Dok in Antwerp, the project will rise over the coming years into a new residential tower with 23 floors and 92 apartments. Its distinctive twist will introduce a strong architectural gesture to the Antwerp skyline, offering views over the water, Park Spoor Noord and the city. The project combines forward-looking architecture with a strong residential experience by the water. A key feature will be the swimming pool on the 11th floor, at 40 metres above ground - the highest in Antwerp and the second highest in Belgium. LAKE SIDE +++ Tour & Taxis site, Brussels +++ Earlier this month, an important step was taken: the urban planning permit for the Lake Side project at the Tour & Taxis site in Brussels has been granted! This brings the further development of this unique place another step closer. As design architect, we are proud to contribute to one of the most ambitious urban developments in Belgium. Lake Side forms the final phase of the transformation of Tour & Taxis, bringing together a dynamic mix of residential, workplace and public spaces, with a strong focus on sustainability and future-oriented design. ARENBERG +++ Arenbergstraat, Antwerpen +++ The underground structure has been completed. Precast slabs are currently being installed as a covering, marking the transition towards the above-ground phase. At this level, the foundation is being set for the wider project: 11 apartments, a commercial ground floor and underground parking, together shaping the transformation of the site into an open, light-filled residential environment. Geothermal energy, cooling and solar panels support this process, steering the project towards minimal energy consumption and a future-oriented residential quality. The above-ground structure will further define the housing concept, with through-apartments and generous south-facing terraces, while the penthouse extends from façade to façade, offering views of the Graanmarkt and the Arenberg Theatre. +++ De ondergrondse bouw is gerealiseerd. Momenteel worden de predallen geplaatst als afdekking, waarmee de overgang naar de bovenbouw wordt ingezet. Op dit niveau wordt de basis gelegd voor het verdere project: 11 appartementen, een commerciële plint en ondergrondse parking, die samen de transformatie van de site vormgeven richting een open, lichte woonomgeving. Geothermie, koeling en zonnepanelen ondersteunen dit traject en sturen het project naar een minimaal energieverbruik en toekomstgerichte woonkwaliteit. TWIST TOWER +++ Spoorzone Noord, Antwerp +++ Twist Tower anchors itself along the Kempisch Dok, within the dynamic interplay between Cadix and the Eilandje. A vertical structure of 23 floors that translates the city into vertical elegance, where density, light, and views are organized within a clear system. 89 apartments and 3 penthouses, a stacked density guided by light, views, and orientation. On the 11th floor, the collective level is carved out: a swimming pool as a point of calm above the city, where distance and proximity find balance. +++ Twist Tower verankert zich aan het Kempisch Dok, in de dynamiek tussen Cadix en het Eilandje. Een verticale structuur van 23 verdiepingen die de stad vertaalt naar verticale elegantie, waarin densiteit, licht en uitzicht in een helder systeem worden georganiseerd. 89 appartementen en 3 penthouses, een gestapelde densiteit gestuurd door licht, zicht en oriëntatie. NATIONAL MS CENTER +++ Healthcare campus north, Mechelen +++ The new MS Center in Mechelen is being built on the healthcare campus north of the city center, between AZ Sint-Maarten and the Roosendaelveld residential care center. The building will accommodate rehabilitation, outpatient clinics, nursing wards, and public functions, with an underground connection to AZ Sint-Maarten to support future collaboration. Accessibility and green spaces are central: a kiss-and-ride area, bicycle parking, an inviting outdoor space, and a spacious garden provide opportunities for relaxation. The façade design enhances the readability of the building: a robust base gives it a solid foundation, while lighter panels on the upper floors support flexibility, circularity, and energy generation through integrated BIPV panels. Warm tones and a homely character make the center a welcoming place for patients, staff, and visitors. +++ Het nieuwe MS-centrum in Mechelen komt op de zorgcampus ten noorden van het centrum, tussen AZ Sint-Maarten en woonzorgcentrum Roosendaelveld. Het gebouw biedt ruimte voor revalidatie, polikliniek, verpleegafdelingen en publieke functies, met een ondergrondse verbinding naar het AZ voor toekomstige samenwerking. Toegankelijkheid en groen staan centraal: een kiss-and-ridezone, fietsenstallingen, een uitnodigende buitenruimte en een ruime tuin zorgen voor ontspanning. De gevelopbouw versterkt de leesbaarheid van het gebouw: een robuuste sokkel geeft een stevige basis, terwijl lichtere gevelpanelen op de bovenliggende verdiepingen flexibiliteit, circulariteit en energieopwekking ondersteunen via geïntegreerde BIPV-panelen. This past weekend, our team swapped the drafting table for the running course @komop_tegenkanker . For us, it was more than just a sporting challenge. It was a commitment that closely reflects how we, as an office, view collaboration, care, and human connection. We ran not only for the collective cause, but also with a deeply personal motivation for someone very dear to us, Fenne. That gave every kilometer extra meaning and brought us even closer together as a team. Proud of our squad, who contributed as one strong, flexible, and motivated group. Together, we’re taking the next step— for each other, and for a healthier future. +++ Afgelopen weekend verruilde ons team de tekentafel voor het loopparcours van de @komop_tegenkanker . Voor ons was dit meer dan een sportieve uitdaging. Het was een engagement dat nauw aansluit bij hoe we als kantoor naar samenwerking, zorg en menselijke verbondenheid kijken. We liepen niet alleen voor het collectieve goede doel, maar ook met een heel persoonlijke motivatie voor iemand die ons bijzonder dierbaar is, Fenne. ALBERT: a new urban landmark, restoring the grandeur of the historic factory site and becoming a distinctive cornerstone of Berchem. +++ Berchem, Antwerp +++ The former ATEA factory in Berchem has been transformed into a vibrant mix of functions: commercial spaces, offices, and apartments. Behind the historic façade, winter gardens provide additional outdoor space. The tone-on-tone top floor crowns the building and, together with the new program mix, gives a fresh boost to this lively neighborhood. +++ De voormalige ATEA-fabriek in Berchem is getransformeerd tot een bruisende mix van functies: commerciële ruimtes, kantoorruimte en appartementen. Achter de historische gevel bieden wintertuinen extra buitenruimte. Four volumes frame a central gathering space - the heart of the school - where collaboration, circle time, and learning become visible. The technical school GTI showcases craftsmanship. Transparent workshops and shed roofs make technology visible and connect students to both practice and the local community. Both schools are flexible, future-proof, and sustainable. Wooden modules, smart installations, and green outdoor spaces create a healthy, energy-conscious learning environment. Together, they form a campus where students feel appreciated, safe, and challenged - a place that moves with their learning process and strengthens the community. +++ De Jenaplanschool Lieven Gevaert is ontworpen als een klavertje vier.
