My Big Sister Amanda, was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia, when she was born. My parents were told she wouldn’t make it to 12. When she turned 12, they said she wouldn’t make it to 40, but she made it to 42 (she always did things Her way, even if it drove all of us crazy).
My sister lived everyday of her life with more hope and joy than anyone I’ve ever met, while in excruciating pain, on all kinds of medications, and fearing month-long hospital stays.
Now, SHE’S NOT IN PAIN ANYMORE, and watching over all of us with that same joy, smile, and more energy than ever.
So, Tell your siblings, best friends, family, peloton instructor, mailman, whoever you care about, that you Love them. EVERYDAY! Because I would do anything to say it to Amanda one last goddamn time.
Thank you to everyone who reached out, helped with the funeral, sat with my parents at the house, sent food, etc. It means more than I could ever put into words 🙏🏾
