There have been teahouses on Japanese mountain roads long before trail running existed. A place for rest, recovery, tea and sweets, and trail information for the journey ahead. With
@arcteryx_jp we conceived and designed this chaya specifically for trail runners at the base of Mt Takao.
The hand-woven wara bird was originally inspired by the thatched roofs of Japanese mountain teahouses, but through the process with
@straft__ we learned that people in the mountains have long made charms from rice straw as a symbol of safe travel along mountain trails.
Now open, we hope trail runners of many skill levels can enjoy this experience.
