I’m short of words to describe the honor of presenting this new work at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. This has been one of my favorite places in the city for as long as I can remember, and one of my favorite museums in the world.
I can’t wait to share the journey of creating this work. It feels like a breakthrough moment on all levels; sonically, aesthetically and contextually. Who would ever have thought that we could turn Andrew Carnegie’s personal library into a public listening room?
We have a ton of programming coming together, and lots of stories to tell while the system evolves over the coming months. I will be there for most of December, tweaking, programming, etc. Hope to see you there.

The second release from Ojas Music—Elyria Sound is a solo guitar album from Michael A. Muller, recorded and mixed via analog tape during a winter storm.
Each piece was captured live in single passes to a one-inch tape machine, the most direct path from fingertip to magnetic oxide.
Elyria Sound was developed with experimental guitar tunings, yielding a relearning the instrument’s language. The outcome moves between lullaby and lament: spare, cyclical compositions where motifs recur at differing angles and tempos, variations on a central thread.
Recorded and mixed by the multi Grammy award-winning engineer Jonathan Low, the album was mastered to tape with lacquer cut in Germany by Frederic Stader. The release partners with The Vinyl Factory; plated and pressed at the former-EMI plant on the outskirts of London.
Hi-Res streaming, download, limited deluxe vinyl, CD and reel-to-reel tapes available via link in bio.
Thank you for your patient ear,
M

I’m so happy to finally share this collection of solo guitar music with you.
The endeavor here was to find the most-direct path from instrument to ear; the simplest / deepest connection and expression possible.
Great care was taken with every step of creating this music—an attempt to capture the physicality and emotion of sound within a space.
Elyria Sound was tracked live to tape in single passes. Mixing and mastering were all-analog through tube-based components. The lacquer cutting, plating and pressing of the vinyl all occurring on vintage equipment.
The limited vinyl pressing is now available worldwide via The Vinyl Factory.
US vinyl, reel-to-reel tapes & CD orders from Bandcamp ship early June.
Digital/Streaming now via all platforms.
