Set within beautifully landscaped surrounds, this clubhouse will serve as the social and recreational heart of the community, fostering connection and active living. Just before we signed off 2025, Rachel and Riccardo attended the opening of the Halcyon Evergreen Clubhouse, Homestead. Project Complete! ALDI Burdell is located in North Shore and is the second ALDI Store opened in Townsville. The store was purpose built by Hutchinson Builders for Brisbane based developers Onefin with architecture by Thomson Adsett. As a Leasehold store, DC8 Studio’s scope was design of the fit out, tender documentation and administration of the contract as Superintendent for ALDI Stores. The fit out was completed by Evolve Constructions @evolveconstructions on time in 9 weeks and on budget.

Last fortnight Rachel and Genevieve were delighted to attend the VIP opening of the Halcyon Horizon Community Clubhouse. It was wonderful to share the night with the residents, who were very excited to have their clubhouse handed over to them. A great night of dancing on the new hardwood timber dancefloor was had, with the new bar and kitchen full stocked for a shared meal between new neighbours. A huge thank you to @plangroup_australia for their care and attention to detail during construction and a warm congratulations on this milestone to the @stocklandhalcyoncommunities team. 📸 @aaronpocockphotography Landscape Architecture: @urbanedge_landscape Services & Structure: @adpconsultingptyltd Cinema: @thedigitalpicturegc Pool: AGL Group Furniture and Styling: @roomaustralia & @emmi_loulalay DC8 Team: Rachel Melvin, Riccardo Rizzalli, Kara Kennedy, Kirsti Stock and Genevieve Vu —— With easy connection to Torquay beach lifestyle and uninterrupted rural outlook, the community urban design focused on achieving strong passive design for the homes and key outlook and positioning for the shared community spaces.   The clubhouse is a series of pavilions that create a northern courtyard for outdoor sports and activities with the resort pool and sunken fire pit taking advantage of rural views to the east. The pavilions cluster spaces into Social, Retreat and Health and Wellness interests.   Local materials are used where ever possible with cues from the beaches used to inspire the exterior and interior palettes.

DC8 was honoured to attend the opening of Snell Street Homes last week. A design journey going back to 2019, DC8 Studio supported @salvosau in realising their vision to create well located, thoughtfully designed homes with wrap around support services embedded in the building. Collaborating with a driven team at the @therefor_group and open dialogue with the Toowoomba Regional Council, the project was the first through the Queensland State Governments Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) approval pathway for affordable housing. The Salvation Army and Queensland Government Department of Housing joint funding agreement, along with an accelerated approval pathway, brought this project from the drawing board into the capable hands of @mcnabgroup for construction. All homes are now tenanted with a third of the homes allowing existing housing residents to downsize and free up larger homes for those on the housing waitlist. We were so appreciative to hear directly from residents how moving in had given them so much hope and happiness for the future.   -— Located on an existing Salvation Army land holding, the local corp and housing teams came together with a vision of creating affordable homes for the local community. The site is closely located to the town centre, jobs, schools, parklands and public transport which created well embedded opportunities for a new community to thrive. The project contains 19x 1bed and 4x 2bed LHA Gold homes with resident shared space on the northern podium. To support the Salvos Housing mission, space for a community hub was also delivered on street level for use by the local corp and residents. The materials and details draw inspiration from the homes within the local suburb, with red brick and weatherboard anchoring the built form to its loci.

The machines are rolling. It won’t be long and we will be pouring on concrete at our first South Australian project.

PROJECT: The site forms part of the gateway to the Willowdale Estate in Denham Court, south-west Sydney. The brief called for a high-quality, integrated development of 31 townhomes—attached, semi-detached, and detached—while optimising density and creating attractive streetscapes. Facing challenges like steep topography, limited access, and orientation constraints, DC8 designed a masterplan of rear-loaded, dual-frontage homes with split-level layouts. These homes feature open-plan ground floors, efficient upper levels, and well-balanced indoor-outdoor connections. The result is a smart, cost-effective housing solution that enhances the estate’s entrance with well-designed streetscapes and quality dwellings. Construction by @mcnabgroup is in its final stages at this new social housing project in Toowoomba. Wonderful to see the Austral Bricks Pottery Blend Fire Umber being laid with care and craftsmanship. Thanks for the specification support Brickworks Building Products. At DC8 Studio, we are proud to have collaborated with The Salvation Army Housing Australia and the Queensland Government (@QueenslandHousing ) to provide 23 social homes in the centre of Toowoomba City. All homes are LHA Gold and designed with people who will live there as the central design focus. The project was developed in collaboration with the rigorous standards and quality defined by the Department of Housing and Public Works and Office of the Queensland Government Architect.

PROJECT: The Halcyon Evergreen Sales and Stables precinct, located in North Clyde, Victoria, creates spaces for future residents to discover the upcoming community, visualize their new home and gather and socialize with their future neighbours. Balancing different uses and outcomes within the entry space of the Evergreen community was considered throughout every phase of the design process. Last week Riccardo and Rachel were in Clyde, Victoria to celebrate the SOD of the @stocklandhalcyoncommunities Halcyon Evergreen Clubhouse. The clubhouse rests at the end of the central, green boulevard, designed in collaboration with @spiire_au ,and compliments the previously delivered Stables precinct.
