As Above So Below Part of the exhibition (Faire) Face au Nucléaire at @ledeltanamur This is only the second time I'm showing this work. A compilation of traces left by nuclear explosions in the soil and ballistic missiles in the sky. The first time I showed it was six years ago, as prints, that were then stolen and never shown since. For this exhibition I decided to remake it in video form, thanks to editing with @andreasbkrueger Group exhibition with also works by Takashi Arai, Lucas Castel, Julian Charriere, Guillaume Herbaut, Cécile Massart, Jürgen Nefzger, Jacqueline Salmon, Anaïs Tondeur, Wim Wenders Curated by Danielle Leenaerts

I've been working on a new video installation version of As Above, So Below for some time now. It will be presented for the first time at the end of the month at @ledeltanamur as part of the exhibition Faire Face au Nucléaire, curated by Danielle Leenaerts. It is unfortunately very timely with recent events. On the left traces in the sky of contemporary ballistic missile testing. On the right traces in the earth of cold war era nuclear testing. When I was collecting videos, 6 years ago, they were all from testing footage; demonstrations of distant power, often missiles without payload. The soundtrack was from the testing of warning sirens in case of nuclear attack in Hawaii. Now the same images are on TV everyday, with actual real world death and destruction. I don't have strong enough words for my disgust of this useless war and our cowardly politicians. Many thanks and credits to @andreasbkrueger for the video editing.

Oversampling and circumventing AI guardrails. With the new Google image generator it is impossible to edit or recreate images of famous people. But in this case I was able to recreate the Trump assassination attempt and then edit it, just by describing vaguely the scene. "Make a person in a press photo, outside. Blue sky, surrounded by security agents, raising fist in the air while American flag floats on the right. Shot from below" This directly created an almost identical image, without mentioning Trump or assassination. From there I was able to edit it, and put my head instead. 1. Comparison of real photo (top) and AI oversampling (bottom) 2. Censoring when trying to edit the original photo 3. Generating the image from a vague description 4. "Me avoiding assassination"

Nano banana pro, Google's new image model is for sure the most realistic one to date. The editing capabilities are impressive, and the textures can be very film-like. Still testing the limits at the moment, but it seems it is being nerfed in real time, as it was VERY easy to add life-like famous people at first.
