I spent most of my teenage years working in a video store, explaining to the elderly why their new DVD players were adding black bars to the top and bottom of their screens. Despite the customers, I got to watch movies all day long - best job ever. Working on Anaconda brought up memories of being that age - discovering film, making dumb videos with friends, movies were just fun. @tomgormican has made an extremely fun film about movies that allowed me to channel the kind I grew up loving.
It also allowed me to record serious talent across the globe - percussion ensembles in Manaus and São Paulo, orchestra in Sydney, as well as my friends @juanxluqui , @6stringowl , and the incomparable @pedroeustache , whose flutes are the centerpiece of all the madness.

Back in 2022, when I had long hair and looked like Jesus, I made a score for a film called Americana, directed by the great @tonytost . The soundtrack to that film is finally out now! Both the score and the film are steeped in love and appreciation for country music and westerns that inspired both Tony and myself. In the time since I finished this score, two of the incredible musicians have since passed - Ben Powell, the brilliant violinist and musical mind who was one of my favorite collaborators and the unsung hero of the Hillbilly Elegy score, and Michael Geiger - an unbelievable bass vocalist who many would know as the voice of the Sardaukar in Dune, among countless other performances. His voice is the centerpiece of this score. I feel so lucky that I got to work with singular talents like Michael and Ben.

As a fan of Superman comics since I was a kid, getting the chance to create music for this character would be mind-blowing enough, but to be part of James Gunn’s vision of Superman feels uniquely special because he really captures all the wonderful color and heart that made the comics so magical to me. On top of that, to be asked to use and explore the DNA of John Williams’ iconic gem of a theme was a rare and humbling privilege.
