"A contextually driven palette, natural tones of timber and green from the surrounding gums, grounds this adaptation, offering the city a glimpse of future heritage."
Thank you @archdaily for the lovely feature on Treehouse last week.

This morning, the Women of Das came together to recognise the profound contribution they make to our practice. Their talent, leadership and generosity can be felt across all our projects and within our studio every day. Part of our Das DNA.
Grateful, as always, for the strength of this team. Lots of professional love!

Das Studio operates on Kaurna, Wurundjeri and Gadigal Country. Our practice is grounded in a commitment to designing with Country, recognising that this cannot occur without supporting the continuation of the world’s oldest living cultures, who have cared for these lands for tens of thousands of years.
For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, January 26 is not a day of celebration, but one of mourning, survival and remembrance. In recognition of this, our studio will operate as usual on Monday, while encouraging our team to take leave on another day that holds personal meaning for them.
We have shared a petition supported by Aboriginal leaders and organisations via the link in our bio, calling on the Federal Government to move the Australia Day public holiday, establish a new national long weekend, and ensure First Nations voices, truth-telling and reflection are central to its purpose. Our team has been encouraged to engage with and support this call in ways that feel appropriate to them.
In the lead-up to Monday, our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group shared our Designing with Country Framework with the studio. Guided by our RAP, this work supports an ongoing shift in practice, seeing each project as an opportunity to learn with Country, and to embed co-design processes from the earliest stages, guided by listening, respect and collaboration.
Over on our stories, we’ll be sharing details of events marking January 26, and standing alongside community in moments of reflection, learning and solidarity.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the elevation of Josh McCallum to Associate at Das Studio!
As a core member of our team for the past six years, Josh’s contribution has enriched many projects across the Education, Residential and Commercial landscape at Das. Most importantly, he has been the champion of our Social Infrastructure projects, making a much needed impact across the country from Yalata to Borroloola and for many regional and remote communities in between.
If you’ve spent time working with Josh, you’ll know his influence extends well beyond his Architectural work. His generosity, wit and genuine care for others make him a constant and grounding presence in the studio, a true team player who always has your back.
Joshy, we’re incredibly proud of the impact you’ve had at Das and are beyond excited to see how your contribution evolves in this next chapter!

Team Das are excited to share a closer look inside Tonsley Technical College and Flinders University Factory of the Future.
Architect Ben de Bricassart takes us to his favourite feature of the college: the steel-clad “magnet” that wraps the south-eastern facade. This element provides a visible and functional connection with the Tonsley Innovation precinct and is a place that industry can come together.
Associate Sam Green discusses the building’s Mass Timber structure, comprising 433 Glue Laminated Timber columns, beams, and trusses. This skeleton anchors the building inside and out, offering a tactile reminder of the potential of innovative and sustainable construction, in a space responsible for educating a new generation of skilled tradespeople.
Since filming, the project has been fully fitted out with its technical equipment, ready for students to arrive. We can’t wait to see the building buzzing with life - more to come.

Senior Architect Josh McCallum travelled to Sydney to celebrate the opening of Biyani House’s new modular additions - metro Sydney’s first modular crisis accommodation for women and children.
Delivered in less than half the time of a conventional build, the new units were designed by Das to provide faster access to safe, supported housing for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.
The project was delivered in partnership with Women’s Community Shelters, Shape Modular and DT Infrastructure, with the $2.2m Core and Cluster program funded by NSW’s Department for Communities and Justice.
Josh attended the opening alongside representatives from Women’s Community Shelters, The Hon Jodie Harrison MP, NSW Minister for Women, Seniors, and the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, as well as community leaders, government, and project partners.
After many months of coordinating the project from different parts of the country, it was also a rare and welcome chance for the project team to stand together and celebrate the impact of their collective work.
A special shoutout to Josh, and to Senior Interior Designer Ashleigh Pinto, who made this project possible.
We’re proud to help provide safer spaces and immediate support for women and children when they need it most.
